chapter 37

Kandi's p o v

"CHRIS!!!!" I yelled from Shay's room.

"What ma?" He asked as he ran in the room, I walked over to him so only he could hear what I have to say.

"She asked." I said and that one tear rolled down my face.

"Don't cry baby we been talked about this day." He said kissing me and we walked over to Shay, who was sitting on the bed. "What you want to know baby girl?" He asked Shay.

"Why I don't look like you or my brothers or sisters?" She asked.

"Baby girl..." I cut Chris off.

"I can show you better than I can tell you." I said taking her hand and we walked to the pool house. "Can you promise me that what I'm about to show and tell you that you don't run away and we talk about it?" I asked her.

"Okay." Was all she said and we walked into the pool house. I put the cd in that Chris made with all my mother's pictures on it, and it showed on picture of my mom.

"This is our mother." I said and she looked at me. "I'm not your mama, I'm sister and Chris isn't your daddy. The man you call popa is your dad our father."

"Wait what?"

"Our mother dead giving birth to you. No one wanted to help us are take us in not even our mom's side of the family. So I had to take care of you by myself until I meet Chris. I had to do so much just to keep you with me."

"Like what?"

"I became a stripper, just so you could have everything you needed and we could have some where to stay, then Meme and Chris helped us out a lot. Then when Chris and I got married we became your mother and father we got your last name change to Goodman and we was going to tell you but you asked b4 we had a chance to do so, and don't think your the reason mama not here cause your not."

"This is a lot."

"I know baby girl but I didn't won't some outsider taking you away from me. I love you as if you was my own."

"But I am your's mama and your going to always be my mama."

"I love you baby girl."

"I love you to the moon and back." She said and we just looked at the pictures of our mother. Shay had more questions and I had the answers. We sat in the pool house until Shay went to sleep on my lap. I'm happy the pool house had a phone cause I can't pick her up no more. I called Chris cell phone and he picked up.

"Yes ma'am?" He asked into the phone.

"Can you come get Shay please?"

"I'm on the way." He said and I hung up. Chris walked into the house and walked over and picked her up. We walked out the door and I locked it and we walked into the house and I locked the back door. Chris put Shay in her bed and I went and took a shower.  I took off my clothes and just let the water hit my body and the tears that I was holding in came out. I knew that this day was coming but I didn't think it was going to be this soon. "Baby are you okay?" Chris asked coming into the bathroom.

"No." Was all I could say. He cut the water off and put a towel around me and picked me up and took me to the room.

"Its going to be okay baby its better she asked now than later." He said putting me on one of his t-shirts.

"She said I'm going to always be her mama."

"Cause it's true baby your are her mama. Now get some rest." Chris said and I got under the cover and went to sleep.

Chris p o v

I laid in the bed with Kandi in my arms sleep. I was just about to go to sleep when the room door opened.

"Daddy you sleep?" Shay asked as she tapped me.

"No, what's up?"

"I can't sleep and I don't want to wake up mama."

"Come on." I said getting out the bed and we made our way down stairs. Since Shay was able to get out her bed by herself, she'll come to my side of the bed and wake me up and we'll go to the living room and I'll put her favorite movie on and fix us a big bowl of strawberris and grapes. "What's wrong baby girl?" I asked her as we walked into the kitchen.

"I tried to go to sleep but I can't."

"Okay lets get you some grapes and The Robinson." I told her and I got her grapes and we went to the living room and I put the movie in. We looked and laughed at the movie as if we didn't see it b4. The movie was almost over and Shay was sleep. I cut the tv off and I picked her up and took her to her room.

"I love you daddy." She said b4 I walked out the room.

"I love you to baby girl." I said closing the door and walking into our bedroom.

"Shay couldn't sleep?" Kandi asked as I got in the bed.

"You already know." I said pulling her to me.

"Why did you cheat on me?" She asked.

"I was stupid." I said and she got out the bed.

"Chris I have had your back since you told me you was in the game. I even took your son in as my own. What was it?"

"I know baby and..." she cut me off.

"No I'm done hearing I'm sorry from you. I want out I can't take this." She said and walked out the room. I have no words and my heart just stopped beating all together.
