Sofia quickly turned around and instantly came face to face with none other than Adam Mills. Sofia's breathing increased as she saw him standing there with a smile lingering on his face. She had mo idea why she was feeling like this. What was possibly so different about him she couldn't understand yet. But deep inside Sofia was broken and she was afraid of letting someone into her life. Nobody would be able to heal her broken wound only God knew how much she was suffering.

Just like every other solider in the room he was dressed in their formal uniform which made him look more mature. Remembering what he had said Sofia answered "yeah I was kind of forced to come by Bea."

"Forced? You didn't want to come?" Adam asked curiously.

"No, not really this isn't really my thing. I would rather just stay in my room and read" she answered as she shrugged.

Adam chuckled as he took a seat next to her "you're not like most girls here."

"How are you feeling? I heard you're done with your physical therapy" asked Sofia staring off at the dance floor.

"I'm doing much better. They have cleared me to go back to doing my job" Adam said taking a sip from his drink.

Sofia smiled and nodded her head before staring at the dance floor again. She saw Bea having a great time as she danced with Sam. Bea was laughing at the things he was saying to her and as she laughed Sam looked at her with loving eyes. A huge smile appeared on Sofia's face she was truly happy for her friend. She closed her eyes and said a small prayer to God asking him to keep her friend happy her whole life.

When she opened her eyes she saw Adam staring at her. He opened his mouth to ask her something, but was interrupted by the announcement calling everyone back to their seats as dinner was about to be served.

Saved by the bell Sofia thought and she quickly got off from the bar stool. She turned to Adam to bid him farewell, but bumped into his chest instead. To steady her, Adam's hand quickly moved to her back as he stared at her face. Sofia looked up at his face and for second she was lost in his eyes. But the she realized he was still holding her and quickly backed away.

Sofia cleared her throat "well uh thank you, but I think we should get to our tables."

Adam nodded his head "Yes of course."

With one last glance and a small smile Sofia looked at Adam and turned around to leave. Adam stood there with his hands on his uniform hat and watched Sofia as she got lost in the sea of people trying to find their seats. When he couldn't see her anymore Adam sighed heavily and went to go seat at his own table.

Adam sat down on his seat and thought about her. He had observed her as she looked at Bea and Sam dancing together. When she smiled he noticed the dimples that popped up on her cheeks and how her eyes began to shine. But deep down Adam knew that behind her smile she was hiding was something. Adam just had no idea how broken she truly was.
