Loving You

Chapter 9

Adam looked at Sam "we have to go now" Sam nodded his head as Adam looked at Sofia. "You and Sam are going to help her up while the guys cover us" Sofia's heart hammered against her chest as Adam helped her up. She was scared and was quietly praying to God to keep them all safe and to make Bea better. In the count of three Sam and Sofia helped Bea up as Faith and the other girls were behind them.

Adam told the guys what do and where to meet us. Quickly and quietly he led them around the corner as they heard shooting. "Keep your heads down and move fast" Adam yelled. They ducked, ran and hid until they safely made it inside this warehouse.

"Come on the guys and rescue will meet us here let's go inside" Adam said. Faith and the other girls cleared off table as Sofia and Sam gently laid Bea there. Adam made sure everyone was safe inside before shutting the door. Few of the other guys stayed guarding the door and looking outside of the windows.

Bea was groaning in pain. The wound began to bleed again and they were running out of supplies. Sofia kept her hand pressed on the wound and prayed to God. After awhile Sofia and Faith bandaged the wound, managing to stop the bleeding for now. Sofia continued to silently pray that rescue would get here on time. Sofia knew Bea's condition wasn't so good. Bea's wound was getting infected and she was having trouble breathing, there was nothing they could do. She looked up to Sam and nodded her head as she looked down with tears in her eyes.

Bea knew it wasn't good. That bad feeling in the pit of stomach became true. The only thing she could think about was Laila, her little girl. "Sofia" Bea sobbed as she looked at her friend. Sofia came closer to Bea as she grabbed her hand, but wasn't able to look up at her. "Sofia I want you to look after Laila and my mom okay? You tell Laila that I will always love her"

Sofia's eyes immediately shot up to Bea and she kneeled down next to her friend still holding onto her hand. "No you listen to me B you're going to fine, help is on their way and their going to make you better so you can go home to see Laila" Sofia said with tears rolling out of her eyes.

Bea smiled with tears in her eyes "you and I both know that's not true Sof." Bea grabbed onto Sofia tighter "y-you promise me two things okay?" Sofia nodded her head unable to speak. "First you take care of Laila for me and you make sure she stays happy a-and then I want you to be happy. You faced so much in your life promise me you'll let yourself love again and be happy and maybe even have some kids" the girls chuckled at the last part.

"I promise B, I promise" Sofia's heart was shattering. The pain she felt all those years came rushing back once again. The one other person that she loved the most is dying in front of her. Her pain clogged her up again.

Bea looked over at Sam. He had his head down. Bea touched his soft hair "thank you for loving me" she said. Sam smiled at her and kissed her forehead as tears fell down his face. After all this time he had finally found the right person for him, but now she was being taken away.

Bea looked at Faith and all the girls who were holding each other and crying and she looked at Adam. Her eyes lingered on Adam's face for awhile. She was speaking to him through her eyes and Adam knew then what she was telling him.

"B please don't leave me" Sofia whispered holding onto her friend's hand. Bea looked over at Sofia and smiled, her tears continued to fall from eyes. "I love you Sof" she said putting few strands of her hair behind Sofia's ear. Bea's eyes stayed focus on Sofia, she knew it was time for her to go. Her breathing becoming slower and slower until she took her last breath.

Sofia's lips trembled as she rested her forehead on the table. She couldn't think, she couldn't feel, her emotions were all over the place. Sofia got up and rushed inside the office room that was inside of the warehouse and cried. She stayed like that for a long time. She wasn't sure when rescue was coming, but she didn't care. All she wanted was her best friend back. Finally, after hours Sofia's tears stopped as she sat on the floor motionless.

Adam began worrying about Sofia. After she rushed into the room he almost ran after her, but decided to leave her alone for a bit. Faith had covered Bea's body as she said a small prayer herself. Everyone else just sat around waiting for the rescue time the atmosphere in the room filled with sadness and grieve. Some of the girls were crying as they comforted one another. Adam sat with Sam for awhile he knew how much Bea meant to him. He didn't say anything to him, but just sat there in silence.

After awhile Adam got up and went into the office room. There he saw Sofia staring at the wall and wiping her tears. Adam slowly sat down next her. He didn't know what to say to her. She looked over at Sofia, her eyes puffy. He wanted to hug her and hold her hand, but he was afraid of her reaction.

He was still staring at her when she finally faced him. Adam didn't say anything, but his eyes held everything for Sofia when she bursted out crying again. She put her arms around his neck and began sobbing on his shoulder. Adam held her tightly around his body. She cried and cried until she was finally able to calm her breathing again. She let go of Adam and without even looking at him rested her head on his shoulder. He still held her close to him, Adam felt as if he let her go she would fall and break into pieces.

As Sofia rested her head on Adam she thought about one thing. Now in this moment for the first time she felt safe in Adam's arm. She looked up at Adam and thought about what Bea had told her. Then she looked up at the sky and closed her eyes and whispered "I promise B."
