" If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world"The sad music plays in the background of the movie and I turn to look at Shay as she quickly wipes the tears from her eyes. A small laugh leaves my lips at the sight of her crying and she instantly turns to look at me, shoving my shoulder before crossing her arms over her chest and looking away. I roll my eyes and look away, a smile tugging at both of our lips. Some time passes by and the melodramatic movie ends, our feet leading us outside as we wait for an uber. Shay shoves a chocolate into her mouth before shoving the box towards me, bluntly offering me one. I take it from her and shake some onto my palm, shoving all of them into my mouth only seconds later.
" It's so cold." She groans using her jacket to cover her chest. I nod my head and shuffle in my spot, the wind making the fall weather slightly colder than it actually is. " I think we're just a couple of pussies." She says pulling out her phone and gazing at the temperature that reads 30 degrees. I laugh at her comment and she continues, her voice serious as if she just walked in on a deep conspiracy. " California's so hot it's making it seem so cold up here." She says shuffling in her spot.
" Pussy." I mutter and she turns around, her mouth wide open. I let out a laugh and she scoffs, turning around and crossing her hands over her chest. " Puss-sy." I whisper and she turns around before chasing after me, my body leading me around the parking lot as she chases me around. Me and her laugh like children as our bodies run all across the parking lot for several minutes before she gives in, stopping and leaning over, obviously out of breath. I laugh at her before letting out some of my own heavy breaths and walking towards her cautiously. " Truce?" She asks lifting up her hand as I walk to her. I nod my head and touch her hand before taking it in mine and leading us back to the front of the movie theater.
" What time is it?" I ask her due to my own phone dying during the movie. She lets out a breath and shoves her hand in her pocket before stopping in her spot, my own body stopping only several feet in front of hers before turning around. " What?" I ask her curiously, gazing at her now pale face. Her hands begin to frantically rummage through her pockets, her breathing heavy and her eyes blown wide open as she does so. " Shay what's wrong?" I ask her, starting to get agitated. She suddenly stops and gazes at me, a pained smile covering her features.
" I-" she clears her throat and I raise an eyebrow at her as she looks around the ground. " I may have lost my phone." She says my heart stopping. I let out a heavy breath and groan before pulling at my hair and looking back at her with a distraught look. She was the one that ordered the über.
" Are you serious?" I scoff and she rolls her eyes, clearly unamused with my very own unamusement. Her careless behavior can at times get agitating especially right now when I know I have to take care of my job. " let's go look for it." I say before making my way away from the theaters and back towards the parking lot, Shay following behind me. We look around for several minutes our eyes gazing at the dark pavement intently.
" This wouldn't have happened if you didn't call me a pussy." She states several feet by my side, shaking her head back and forth. I scoff and roll my eyes before stopping and turning to gaze at her as she leans down and gazes at something on the ground.
" well from what I remember, you called me a pussy first." I scoff turning to look at her with my arms crossed over my chest. She rolls her eyes and I do as well before going back and searching. The sky begins to darken above us and I groan before turning to look back at her.
" We're gonna miss the fucking show." I tell her, my need to excel in doing my job controlling me in this time of despair. She turns to look at me but ignores me and places her attention back on the ground. " I don't know why I agreed to going out like this." I huff turning back around and looking around the parking lot.
