Chapter 22.
"Parker stop moving," Jason held my leg in place as he applied peroxide onto the gash Alex created.
I flinched again as he applied pressure, my hands squeezing the side of the couch trying to ease the pain.
"Jason, okay stop, it's done, I'm fine," I rambled on, not wanting him to continue.
He looked up at me as if telling me to shut up and went on with tending my leg.
"Alright," Jason stood up and picked up the first aid stuff he had brought out.
I looked at my bandaged shin, bending and re straightening my knee, "Jason,"
I stopped him in the doorway as he was about to leave the room. He turned around and faced me, leaning against the wall.
"Thank you,"
He looked at me for a brief second, then nodded his head going upstairs.
I sat up on the couch and grabbed the remote and turned on TV. I channel surfed not really finding anything interesting on at all.
I shut the TV off and slowly got up from the couch, making my way to the stairs. I glanced up the staircase, not really acknowledging how many steps there were before this.
I hesitated on going up the stairs for a good 3 minutes before Jason appeared, he noticed me at the bottom and smiled genuinely.
"Do you need help?" He said walking down the last 3 steps, standing tall in front of me.
I looked behind him at the steps and sighed, "no um. I'm fine."
I limped past him and he stood there, watching me try to climb the first step. I winced in pain and flew my hands down to my leg, gripping it tightly to make the pain go away.
Just then, Jason took my arm and wrapped it around his neck. He put his arms underneath me and lifted me off the floor. I gripped him tighter every step that he took, scared he was going to drop me. We got to the top of the stairs and I was expecting him to put me down, but he carried down the hall and to my room.
He pushed my door open with his foot and brought me inside.
He gently put me down on my bed, hovering over me for a moment. I could feel his breath on me as his eyes trailed from my eyes to my lips. He opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. He slipped his arm out from underneath me and stood upright, backing up away from the bed. I sat there in complete silence, not knowing what I was feeling.
"Goodnight Parker." His voice was hushed and he scratched the back of his head, leaving my room.
Right when he shut the door, I called back for him. "Jason wait!"
He immediately came back into the room and gave a questioned look.
"What if I need.." I stuttered trying to think of something "to get something in the middle of the night!" I said throwing my hands in the air.
I know it was weird, but I didn't feel safe without him there. I needed to be secure.
"Like what," he chuckled crossing his arms
I was quiet for a second, making up an excuse.
"What if I need a drink or something,"
He walked to the middle of the room smirking, "a drink or something huh?"
I sat on my hands and bit the inside of my cheek. It was obvious that I was lying but I still didn't admit to it. I nodded my head and looked at him.
