Chapter 41.
I felt my heart beat hard against my chest, so loud that I think the others might've heard it too. I stepped back a little, just enough so that it didn't look like I was scared of him.
"But you-"
"Are supposed to be dead?" He cut me off, his lips curling into a sly smile, "no."
My breathing sped up, how is this possible? I turned to glance at Jason who's eyes were already glued to me.
"I, I don't underst-"
"Wow," there he goes again, cutting me off, "Jason doesn't tell you much does he?"
I swallowed loudly, staring at Tyler as he traced his fingertips along the dusty shelf that sat against the wall, looking at Jason as if he was waiting for him to explain what was happening.
"Jason?" he instigated him.
I looked at Jason again and he shook his head in defiance. What is he talking about? I looked back at Tyler who slowly moved his eyes over me, his side against the wall so that he was leaning against it, still able to make eye contact with me.
"Alright then," Tyler sighed, standing up straight, "I'll tell her myself."
"Tyler," Jason stepped forward, threatening him.
"Tell me what?" I asked, raising my voice over Jason's.
"Nothing," he looked at me but Tyler continued anyway, despite Jason's warning.
"God, Parker you're so gullible, you know that?" Tyler chuckled, "Jason and I had a deal."
I gulped softly, glancing at Jason who's chest was rising and falling quickly. He glared at Tyler, glancing at me quickly before he looked down at the floor.
"Wh-what deal?" I shifted my weight between my feet, not able to stand still. I was too anxious.
"You're more stupid than I thought," Tyler scoffed, shaking his head as if I was supposed to know what was going on, "to kill you."
I felt a lump form in the back of my throat, my fingers intertwining each other constantly, "I don't understand," I glanced at Jason who didn't say a word, he stood silently watching Tyler's every move.
"How much more can I explain it, Parker? You're the one who's supposed to be dead, not me."
I stared at Tyler for what seemed like eternity before he sighed, cocking his head slightly continuing to explain our little situation here.
"You wanted to know how Jason knew your name before, right? Why he knew so much about you?" He raised his eyebrows, starting again immediately because he knew I wasn't going to answer him.
"Jason's a murderer Parker. He kills people for a living. A hit man." He looked at Jason as he spoke,"and I paid him."
I felt my knees start to grow weak, "to kill me?" I spoke softy, knowing already that it was the reason, I just needed clarification.
"Are you even following along?" Tyler looked back at me, his expression full of sarcasm, "obviously."
I swallowed, turning to look at Jason as I blinked away my blurred vision quickly. I wasn't going to cry. Not now.
"Is that true?" I asked him, his eyes glued to mine as he opened his mouth to speak, but closed it again, saying absolutely nothing.
"You lied to me?" I whispered.
"I didn't lie to you-"
"You told me that he was dead. That you killed him," I spoke a little louder, tears threatening to fall.
