Chapter 31.
I sat up quickly, letting out a loud scream. I looked around my room frantically, searching for any signs of Alex, but finding everything absolutely still. I wiped the hair that stuck to my forehead out of my face, and leaned back against the headboard. I put my hands over my face which was wet from crying in my sleep, and began crying again. I heard my door creak open and I immediately jerked my head up, my eyes meeting Jason's. He looked at me and sighed, walking over to my bed. I slid over, avoiding his eyes by facing the other way.
"Parker,"
I continued to looked at the wall, not wanting to talk about the nightmare that I had.
"This is the third time,"
I looked over at him, not able to see well because it was dark, "what?" I said softly.
"This is the third time that you woke up screaming," he studied me, worry filled his face.
I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, looking down at the blanket over my lap, "i'm sorry,"
He moved in closer, wrapping his arm around me and whispered, "don't be sorry,"
I sniffed and stayed silent, not sure what to say to him.
"what are you dreaming about?"
I glanced at him fairly quickly and back down at my lap, shaking my head and not wanting to tell him about it.
"Parker," his voice was serious but gentle at the same time, "what are you afraid of?"
My heart started pounding again and I looked at the window. The sky was pitch black. All I seen were a few little glowing orbs.
"I um," I cleared my throat so that Jason could hear me better, "I dreamt about Gretchen."
He looked at me in concern, asking me to continue silently.
"A man stabbed her," I swallowed and blinked several times, trying to fight my tears back but they had already fallen, "right in front of me and I tried so hard to tell her he was there but I couldn't I wasn't-"
Jason cut me off, not wanting me to keep crying. I wiped my cheeks with the back of my hand and Jason pulled me in tighter. It was quiet for a moment but I needed to tell him about my nightmare with Alex.
"Jason," I spoke quietly, waiting for him to respond.
"Yeah?"
"I had another one. Alex was in it. And you."
He looked at me in curiosity, "what happened?"
"Alex he um. He was in my room. He tried to kill me too. You were sitting right there" I pointed to the chair in the corner of the room and sat upright, turning to face him, "and you let him."
He had a blank expression on his face as if he didn't know what to say.
"He's going to kill me Jason." My eyes began to water again, not that they had stopped anyway.
"He's not going to hurt you Parker," he tried to reassure me but I shook my head.
"But christian said that they-"
"Forget what he said okay?" He sighed of stress and put his head down, "do you trust me?"
I looked at him, blinking away my blurred vision, "what?"
He brought his eyes up to mine and repeated himself. I didn't know what to say to be honest. I didn't want to trust him, but I couldn't help it. I needed to. Nobody else was there for me. I would be basically alone if Jason stayed the way he was when I first got here. I nodded my head.
