Bepper

The sun rose and Bepper awoke to the sun on her back. She stood up from lying beside Aparri. The morning light slanted through the blossoming tree that Aparri had refused to leave. Dewdrops sparkled like tears on the white petals. Bepper shook her fur and rested a paw on Aparri's shoulder. He twitched, grunted; and opened his eyes.
"Come on Aparri, people will be out soon," Bepper glanced around, but Jamaa was strangely empty. Aparri sat up, a blank expression on his face. He glanced up into the blooming tree for a moments, then began to walk off, a few petals floating off his back. Bepper ran to catch up to him. She didn't know what to say, so she walked alongside him, wishing she could comfort him. Would he ever be back to the old Aparri? She missed his silliness and funny smile.
"Aparri! Bepper!" Bepper looked up in surprise to see Julian and Wisteria. Their sides were brushing.
"What are you two doing here?" Aparri sounded suspicious. Julian shrugged,
"We woke up early to see the sunrise,"
"Julian kept me company." Wisteria moved closer to Julian, who blushed.
Aparri shrugged, looking annoyed. Bepper gave Julian and Wisteria a sympathetic glance.
Aparri didn't seem to care, but just turned to walk away.
Bepper's heart tore. Aparri was all she had left. Skorm had gone, Wisteria had Julian, New Jammer... She dropped her head, feeling like she had lost everything. For a moment she wondered what the purpose of life was.
"Aparri wait!" Wisteria called. Aparri stopped, his shoulders stiffening.
"Wanna head over to Snowy's den? She's hosting a party today." Bepper could tell Wisteria was trying to cheer him up. Bepper glanced at Aparri, who didn't seem phased, and shrugged.
"Okay,"
Wisteria smiled, "come on! It'll be lots of fun, like old times!"
Bepper gave her a small smile. It wouldn't be the same... Not without Skorm. She tried not to drag her feet as they set off towards Snowy's house. The crisp wind blew through the trees, rattling their branches.
"Oh, happy night of the phantoms by the way," Julian mentioned as they walked through the forest. Bepper's heart lightened at the the thought. Night of the Phantoms was one of her favorite holidays. She wondered if Aparri was excited about it. He didn't seem to give anything away. Snowy's den was fully decorated with Night of the Phantoms decor. Wisteria skipped up to the door and knocked. A moment later the door swung open and there stood Snowy.
"Hey guys! Come in!"
She was dressed in her normal outfit but her sword and swirls were orange. She swung the door open wide. Wisteria smiled,
"Hey! Thanks for inviting us!"
Snowy smiled one of her five star smiles as they entered the den.
Sure! I've missed you! And maybe we can talk without having to worry about saving Jamaa,"
Bepper laughed. It was true. They hadn't had a casual moment like this for days. At the back of the den, Twinkle and Wootmoo were chatting. Twinkle jumped up when she saw them enter.
"Oh my god!" She ran up to Wisteria and embraced her,
"We thought you were dead!" Bepper saw tears in Twinkle's eyes as the black and white wolf turned to embrace Bepper.
"I've missed you,"
She stood and smiled,
"Hey everyone, excited for Night of the Phantoms?" Wootmoo asked.
Twinkle nodded,
"Hope no one gets too scared when they see my outfit," she winked. Julian laughed,
"After all we've been through? I don't think so."
Snowy laughed softly,
"Come on, she led them into the living room, which was connected to the kitchen.
"Can I help you with something?" Bepper asked. Snowy smiled widely,
"No, thank you Bepper."
Bepper nodded and turned to see that Twinkle and Wisteria were already in a in depth conversation about the journey.
"And so as it turned out, Dex was the adopted son of Sir Gilbert!" Wisteria explained. Twinkle looked shocked,
"Whoa, that's insane. You're so lucky no one got hurt." She paused, "or worse..."
Aparri grunted,
"We should have never gone."
Bepper looked up.
"What do you mean?"
Aparri's eyes flashed,
"It wasn't worth it! It wasn't worth the pain," he glanced at Bepper,
"The heartbreak."
There was a prolonged silence and Bepper wished Aparri hadn't ruined the atmospheric peace.
"Aparri..." Snowy started.
"Don't 'Aparri' me!" He snapped. "I get it already, you guys don't care. I guess I'll just let you party like nothing has happened!" He stood up abruptly, tail swishing angrily, and stomped away. Bepper sighed,
"I'll talk to-"
"No," Wisteria interrupted. "I will"
Bepper watched as the pink and brown wolf hurried after Aparri. She turned back to her friends. Wootmoo was the first to change the subject.
"What are you guys gonna dress up as tonight?"
Bepper thought of the silk bat costume she still had packed in her room. It felt like it had been years since she had designed it. Had it really only been two weeks?
"Guys!" A panicked looking LilacPetal burst into the house. Everyone jumped to their paws.
Lilac nearly collapsed on the floor, panting.
"You need to come! Quick!"
Aparri and Wisteria burst into the room,
"What is it?"
Lilac gasped for air,
"Follow me!" She bolted from the den. All six jammers ran after her. Bepper's heart thumped wildly, what had happened?
The seven jammers burst out into Sarepia forest, the sound of shouting filling Bepper's ears.
"FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT" the crowd was chanting. Bepper tried to see over the heads.
"Whats happening?" Wisteria demanded. Lilac took a deep breath,
"Skorm, Alistairz..." She fell down, her eyes closing. Bepper froze. Oh no... This was bad... Julian dashed Lilac's side, looking up;
"Bepper," his eyes met hers;
"You need to stop them. This could be bad." Bepper felt like turning and bolting away, not wanting to see Skorm again. He had done too much to her... But Julian's voice was pleading.
"Okay," she tried to keep her voice steady. Turning around, she tried to push through the crowd.
"Bepper?!" A fox stared at her in shock. Bepper pushed past, breaking into the clearing. She gasped at what she saw. Ali and Skorm were circling each other, teeth bared. Skorm had a gash on his shoulder, and Ali had scratches down his back, dripping with red liquid. The drops fell into the already stained grass.
"Stop!" Bepper yelled, throwing herself between them. Skorm's eyes widened. The crowd moaned and booed.
"Bepper?" Skorm shook his head, a few droplets of crimson flinging from his fangs.
"This is my fight Bepper," he growled. Bepper felt anger stir in the pit of her belly. Oh how she wanted to rip that expression off Skorm's face.
"No Skorm, No!" She pranced up to him,
"Stop or we. Are. Done." She enjoyed the look he gave her.
"Bepper please, I have to do this."
Bepper stepped back,
"All this time Skorm, I thought this love was real, but maybe its not." She felt her heart quiver. Skorm stared. Bepper knew that this was his decision. Would he choose her over his anger? He glanced up at Alistairz, and growled,
"Get out of here Bepper, I don't have time for this."
Bepper was thrown back as Skorm leapt at Ali. Unprepared, the hooded wolf fell to the ground, struggling under Skorm's grasp.
"Tell me," Skorm snarled, his jaws to Alistairz's face.
"Why I wish to rip your throat out."
Bepper shivered and backed up. This wasn't Skorm. Not the Skorm she knew...
"Enough!" A blinding light made everyone look up. From the sky a blue figure descended. Mira.
The heron folded her wings and stepped delicately over to Skorm. "You have gone against the laws of Jamaa." Her eyes flamed with a blue fire and Bepper shivered. What was she going to do?
"You, Skorm; are permanently banned." She raised a claw as Skorm gasped,
"I expect not to see you in Jamaa, ever again."
Everyone gasped and stepped back, whispering and mumbling. Just at that moment, the last string on Bepper's heart that connected her to Skorm, snapped.
It was over.
Mira turned to Alistairz,
"You have broken the code as well, and shall be suspended; you shall be sent to the detention area after your injuries are healed."
Ali just blinked, his eyes emotionless and glazed.
As soon as Mira disappeared in a flash of light Skorm stumbled backwards, a frightened look in his eyes. There was a deathly silence. Skorm looked at her,
"I'm sorry," he glanced at Ali's limp body and looked at his bloody paw.
"What have I done?"
"Were over Skorm," Bepper spoke clearly. "Over."
"Bepper you don't understand! I.." Skorm looked around at the hostile faces,
"You lied to me! You left me! There is no more Skepper!" Bepper yelled and her voice echoed among the trees.
"Clearly we are nothing to you," Typical pushed through the crowd, a deep sadness in her eyes. Skorm tucked his tail between his legs and turned, bolting into the undergrowth.
And that was it.
There was no more Skorm. No more Skepper. And strangely enough, Bepper wasn't bothered. But even so, she had a feeling this wasn't the last time she'd see him.

The sleek black suit fit slimly over Bepper's form. The bat wings clipped on her back, and the elf bracelets still clipped around her paws. She felt like a nervous wreck. Did it look okay? She circled in front of the mirror. There was a knock on the door.
"You finished?" It was Wisteria. Bepper took a deep breath,
"Yeah," she swung open the door,
"What do you think?"
Wisterias eyes lit up,
"Wow! You look amazing!"
Bepper smiled and looked at Wisterias costume. The pink and brown wolf was dressed as a haunted reindeer. She was dressed in a dark purple tattered shirt, antlers, and her colors were black and purple.
"You look cool too!" Bepper felt a little happier as he walked beside her friends into the main room.
"There you a-" Julian, dressed as a scientist, stared at Wisteria.
"Wow..." Bepper saw Wisteria blush.
"C'mon guys! Let's go get some candy!" Twinkle was dressed as a cowgirl, and her eyes twinkled, as usual.
The friends burst outside, chatting and laughing in the moonlight. As they ran about Jamaa, trick or treating; Bepper saw the smile return to Aparri's face. She knew he was going to be okay, they all were. And as they sat around the fire in Aparri's den, chatting (and eating candy) Bepper realized that even if the worst things happened, and it felt like everything was against you; her friends were always there.
"Gimme that!"
Aparri was holding Wisteria's candy above his head, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. Bepper laughed, and slowly, very slowly, she felt her old self return. She felt the energy come back. She threw a piece of candy at Aparri, feeling hyper. This is what friendship can do, she thought happily.

Or it could just be the candy.

🍃-THE END-🍃

Holy cheese this was a long chapter. And I'm so excited this story is finished!
What do you guys think?
I tried to invert the whole Skorm being banned thing, but didn't quite know what to do about Typical.
So there's a other plot hole.
Gonna be editing now.
