"What are you doing?" Tina my coworker and friend asks
"Paying table four's bill then I'm heading home" I smile
"Good you've been here all day" She laughs
"Well bills aren't going to pay themselves" I smirk as I print out the receipt for the bill
For the last year I've worked as a waitress at the local diner. It's been two years since I've had Emma, and I couldn't be more happier. It's also been three years since Blake left and now I'm going onto my third year in college. And no, he doesn't know about Emma. I've tried to tell him I really have but he seemed and still seems to be happy in California. His mom and dad both know about her though. Trust me when I say they weren't happy when I told them that Blake doesn't know and I didn't want to tell him just yet. I mean after all Emma's middle name is Marie after Blake's mom.
Anyway, once I give table four their receipt, I go to the back of the restaurant and clock out. Before heading home, I stop at the children's place and pick out a dress for Emma. When I reach Josh's house I use my key to unlock the door. I walk in and the house seems empty and quiet.
"Hello?" I call out
"Mommy" I hear a little girl scream as she runs towards me and hugs my leg
I bend down and hug my little girl as Josh comes in from the kitchen.
"Hey princess" I smile as I pick her up "Were you good for Uncle Josh?"
"Yes!" Sh smiles while clapping her hands
I laugh and kiss her cheek before letting her run around. She's been walking since she was 18 months so she still wobbles a little when she walks or runs.
"How was she?" I ask Josh
"A hand full" He sighs "I don't know how you handle that all day"
"I'm a pro" I smirk
"Listen there's something I need to tell you about the wedding" He says
"Ok go ahead" I say
"Um...Well you know it's...It's um" He starts
"Josh just say it"
"Josh!" I hear Ashley call
"In here" He says
A few moments later Ashley walks in with Emma on her hip. Josh and Ashley has been together for a while and six months ago Josh finally gained the courage to ask her to marry him and of course she said yes.
"Did you talk to Adam about the wedding and honeymoon?" She asks him
"No I haven't had the chance to" He tells her
"Well he's on the phone so you can go tell him now" She says
He nods and goes to the kitchen. Ashley looks at me and smiles before handing me Emma.
"What were you two talking about?" She asks
"He said he needed to tell me something about the wedding but he was nervous as hell, Is it bad?" I ask
"I'l let him tell you" She says giving me sad smile
"So it is bad?" I ask
"No not necessarily just some details he has to tell you" She shrugs "What's in the bag?"
"I got Emma a dress for the engagement party" I say pulling the dress out.
It's a tull peach skirt, with a baby blue and floral top.
