Hidden Secrets

Chapter 13

Over the last week Blake and I have avoided each other like the plague. That was until a few days ago. I've been trying to stay away from Josh's house while Blake was there and have my mom watch Emma, but I have to give my mom a break. I see that she's exhausted from running after Emma all the time and she needs a break, so I have no other choice but to ask Josh to watch her when he doesn't work.

I take a deep breath before walking in Josh and Ashley's house. Today Josh had to work so Ashley watched Emma for me. As I walk in I check the living room, but neither of them were there so I check the kitchen. I sigh when I see no one's in there either.

"They're upstairs" A Blake says from behind me

"Thanks" I say before going up there

As I reach the top of the stairs I see Olivia waiting outside of Ashley's door.

"What's going on?" I ask when I reach her "Where's Ashley and Emma?"

"Emma is sleeping and Ashley locked herself in their room" Olivia sighs "She won't come out. Ever since She brought Emma up to sleep she hasn't come out. I don't know what to do"

"Let me try" I whisper before knocking on the door "Ash it's me Beth open up"

Silence

"Please Ash. Whatever you're going through let me help you" I say against the door

Suddenly the door opens showing Ashley with tears running down her cheeks. She looks between me and Olivia, but her eyes look into mine pleadingly.

"Why don't you go downstairs" I suggest to Olivia "Blake might want company"

Olivia nods and leaves. Ashley sighs and pulls me into her room. I see Emma peacefully sleeping as Ashley sits on the floor at the bottom of her bed with her knees up to her chest and her head hanging low as she cries. I sigh, hating seeing her like this. I sit down next to her and pull her against my shoulder. After a while she sobers up and looks straight ahead while hugging her knees up to her chest.

"Did Josh do something?" I ask

"Yeah" She chuckles "More like the both of us"

"What happened? Did you guys get into a fight?" I ask

"No" She says

"Then what?" I ask

She reaches beside her and hands me a stick with a pink plus sign.

"Are you?" I ask

"Pregnant?" She asks "Yeah"

Her eyes tear up again and looks down. My hand reaches out and wipes her tears away.

"Why are you crying? Aren't you happy?" I ask

"Of course I'm happy" She says "But, we didn't plan for this so soon. We wanted to wait a while after we got married to start trying"

"Does Josh know?" I ask

"No" She cries "He...We wanted to wait months after the wedding to start trying. We wanted to be happily married before any kids came along. What if he's not ready yet and calls off the wedding?"

"He's not like that" I state "He'll be happy you just have to tell him"

"And that's soo easy to do" She says sarcastically

"It's not. But it'll be easier than keeping it a secret trust me. It'll be easier to tell him because you guys aren't in high school, you're adults. It'll be easier because you love each other" I state

"You don't think he'll be mad?" She asks

"Hell no" I laugh "Shocked. Yes. But, mad. Never. If he didn't want to start family with you he wouldn't be marrying you in a month"
