I've been to a few weddings in my life. None of which I was actually a part of. And believe me when I say it's hectic the day of. All last night and all morning I've been dealing with a nervous Ashley. She's been pacing back and forth all morning.
"What if he changes his mind?" She asks looking at me nervously
"You know he's not" I say rolling my eyes
"What if he doesn't like my dress? Or what if he thinks I look fat in it? My stomach has grown a lot within the last month. Oh my god! What if I don't fit the dress?" She talks to herself
"Ash chill out you'll be fine. Josh loves you to death. He won't change his mind and you won't look fat. You're pregnant everyone knows any way. Plus you can totally pull off the pregnant bride look" I say to try to calm her nerves
We have an hour before everyone i supposed to come to get ready. The hair stylist and makeup artist included. She woke super early with her nerves being all jacked up and she woke me up shortly after. I look over at Emma who is luckily still sleeping.
"I think I'm going to be sick" Ashley says
She looks like a deer caught in headlights as she goes over all the things that could go wrong but won't. I desperately wish someone else was here to help me convince her to stop worrying. I kind of understand her because it's all the pregnancy hormones she's experiencing.
"It's the hormones talking Ash. You need to chill the hell out for a little" I say pushing her down on the bed "Relax. Remember what the doctor said?"
She nods and takes a deep breath. A week ago her gynecologist told her and Josh that her cervix was a little small and there is a slight chance of miscarriage and Ashley needs to try not to stress a lot. I know bringing up the baby would instantly make her shut up. She rubs her small bump and smiles down at her unborn child.
"I'm sorry" She whispers
"Josh loves you and he loves the baby. You both would be so crushed if anything were to happen to him or her" I say softly "Today is going to be perfect. You're going to marry the man of your dreams and then you'll live happily ever after with a family"
She visibly relaxes and smiles up at me before hugging me.
"Thank you. For everything" She smiles
"That's what best friends are for" I smile back
The doorbell rings and I go to let the hair and makeup stylist in. They set up their things and soon all the girls come. The hair stylist starts with Tina while the makeup artist starts with Aubrey. Ashley takes a shower to shave and get herself ready for her big day. I sit on the couch and scroll through my phone and eventually end up waking Emma up. I carry her to the kitchen and fix her a bowl of cereal. Since it's bad luck for the groom and bride see each other 24 hours before the wedding we're at my mom's house. We'll go to the venue from here after everyone is ready.
Two hours later everyone is ready besides Ashley. She's still getting her hair done. I put Emma in her dress. It's white lace with flowers along the torso. I brush her hair and put it in a half up-half down.
