Nightmares and Truths

"I love you"

And with those three words Clara's world shattered.

"So Clara where do you want to go today ?" The Doctor beamed as Clara stepped through the Tardis.
"Do you mind if we stay on board the Tardis today ?" She spoke quietly.
"Yes of course-" but before he could continue Clara burst out into tears.
"Clara !" The Doctor ran over to her just before her knees buckled under her, he caught her his arms wrapping tightly around her.
"Hey, hey" he spoke softly "what's all this about then ?"
Clara didn't respond she just wrapped her arms tightly around him and pressed her face into his neck.
"Ok that's alright if you don't won't to talk right now, we can talk later "
He slowly removed one of his hands from her back and put it under her knees before he gently lifted her up.
"I'm going to take you to the library, is that ok my Clara ?"
She sniffled a bit, then nodded "yeah that's ok" .
The Tardis opened the doors to the library "thanks old girl" he whispered.
She burbled appreciatively before materialising a glass of water and a blanket on the library couch.
The Doctor gently laid her down on the couch, he then went and put the fire on before returning to Clara on the couch and pulling the blanket over them.
"Clara do you want to talk about what's wrong ?" He smiled taking her small hand in his and wiping her tears away with his thumb, he offered her the drink and she took it taking a small sip before placing it on the side.
"I'm just so tired Doctor, teaching has been a nightmare and my stress levels have been through the roof and well, to tell you the truth doctor I've been having nightmares every single night for the past three weeks"
"Oh Clara I'm so sorr-"
"No, there is no no need to apologise Doctor it's not your fault"
"Why haven't you told me about this I could've helped" he frowned.
"Well because these nightmares are...um...well " she mumbled.
He looked into her eyes, searching for an answer.
"Well I keep dreaming about losing you Doctor" she looked down at her hands.
"Oh Clara you won't ever loose me"
"You can't say that, you don't know what the future holds" she sniffed.
"Listen Clara, you won't ever loose me I can promise you that, there is no force on earth that'll take me away from you ok " he put his fingers under her chin and tilted her head so he could look her in the eye.
"Because I love you Clara Oswald" he whispered.
"What ?" She whispered.
"I love you"
And with those three words Clara's world shattered.
"Oh thank god" she rushed forward and pulled him into a tight embrace before pulling back and crushing their lips together but before he could respond she pulled back.
"oh...err..sorry about that" she laughed a little embarrassed by what she had just done.
"It's just that I've been wanting to tell you the exact same thing"
"Oh Clara, my Clara you don't know how happy it makes me to hear you say that, now how about you get some sleep and we can get rid of those nasty nightmares once and for all ".
He laid down on the couch and opened his arms for Clara, she pulled the blanket over them and snuggled into his chest. He placed his fingers on her temple and sent her into a peaceful sleep, free of nightmares for he was there to watch over her.
