Hidden Love

Chapter 12: Candice

Rose wrapped her arms around her knees and lay her head down. She began rethinking her day and how she could of seen it coming. Greg, kissing Candice, it was so painful to think about. Then again, Greg didn't really kiss her, she kissed him and he was struggling to get out of her grasp. "Oh gosh, i'm so goddamn stupid!" Rose whispered to herself. She's so used to being hurt, that she didn't give Greg a chance. She began realizing that she never really trusted Greg, even though she had no reason, not to. She ditched class for the first time for the stupidest reason. Still, she didn't want to get up and face Greg. Suddenly, in the distance, Rose heard shouting. She turned around to peek over the boulder. She hid behind it and looked over to the area where she heard the screaming. Candice and Derek were fighting. "Why the F*** did you kiss that idiot kid, Greg?" Derek shouted at Candice, he turned his back to Candice and growled as his temper began rising uncontrollably. "Baby! Please, i'm sorry you saw that but it's not like i like him! I love you!" Derek turned around and pushed Candice. "Love me?! LOVE ME?! You don't LOVE me! You're just another bitchy girl that cant stand to be single. You have me, yet you go around flirting and kissing other guys!" "Derek! I'm sorry but i do love you. I only kissed him to hurt Rose." Derek raised his hand, as if he was going to punch Candice, but he lowered his hand and got real close to Candice. "Rose?! My best friend?! the girl who truly cared for me? The one who i betrayed and hurt? Why do you still bug her? Just drop it Candice, you're hurting her just so you can lift your shitty ass up!" Candice gasped as his words came out of his moth.She covered her mouth and tears began forming in her eyes. "You're such an asshole Derek!" Derek smirked and pushed Candice again. "I'm the asshole?! Look around you Candice, look in a mirror, you've hurt people and laughed at them, and for what? To be popular? We're over Candice. I'm done with you. I'm going to look for Rose." Derek turned around and stomped off, mumbling to himself in anger. Candice dropped to her knees as screamed at him. "Derek!!! Come back!!" She covered her mouth and muffled her screams.  Rose, who was still hiding behind the boulder, gasped and slid down, to hide herself even more. She couldn't believe what had just happened. Candice was crying. She has never seen Candice cry before. A part in her wanted to walk up to Candice and help her, but she chose not to. Why should she? Candice never helped her, if anything, Candice only hurt her. Rose slowly smiled and looked up to the sky. Karma is a bitch. Rose looked over the boulder to see Candice walking towards her. She saw me? But how?? Rose began panicking, and didn't know what to do. Candice was getting closer, and Rose decided to do something really stupid. She got up, revealing herself to Candice. She turned to face Candice, who seemed quite shocked at the appearance of Rose. Rose smiled sweetly and said, "Hey Candice! How are you?" Candice look Rose straight in the eyes while frowning. "You idiot, you don't care, and since you're here, i assume you hear what Derek told me, huh?" Rose slowly nodded but kept her smile on her face. She didn't want to show Candice she was still scared of her. Candice's eyes widened, but then, she simply smiled, then began laughing. "He'll come back for me, you know? But Greg.. i don't think he wants you anymore." Rose's smile left and she frowned. "Greg? He loves me and i love him. When i see him, i'll just have to tell him. Candice began laughing harder. "Tell him? Tell him that you love him? Wow that;s so adorable." Candice mocked Rose and began snickering. Rose stayed quiet and lowered her head. Candice put her hand under Rose's chin and forcefully yanked it up, and squished Rose's cheeks while pulling her closer to her face. "Honey, just get over it. You're worthless and nobody wants you. The world won't even notice you when you're gone, so just get it over with already. I'll help you." Candice put her other hand around Rose's neck and tightened it. Rose gasped for air and used her hands to try and dislodge Candice's grip. Candice leaned closer and whispered in Rose's ear, "His kiss was very nice. He loved kissing me, i know it. He doesn't love you, who would love such a hideous beast?" Candice pushed Rose to the ground and laughed as she walked away. Rose coughed and began gasping for air. She rubbed her neck and looked up to see Candice's back in the distance. She smiled, then began laughing as she grabbed her face with one hand. She did it. She broke me. That son of a bitch broke me. I'm going to kill her. I'm so done. Death doesn't seem so bad, she'll love it, kissing death but never waking up. She'll sleep..soon.. Rose laughed hysterically and couldn't stop. She finally broke.
