I'm really grateful for all of those who took time and read it. Just a question, have any of you noticed anything strange in this paragraph in BSTZ?
[He swallowed and drank his water before he began talking. "It was just a coincidence, really. Mick and I had jut finished hunting for food when we came across the SUV. I recognized it, told Mick to pull over, and rushed towards it. We found the lot of you there, frozen like statues. It was scary. I could still see Bree and Dana clutching each other, eyes wide open in death." His eyes looked haunted. "Xavier and you were embracing each other, but both of you didn't look alive. But when my hand passed accidentally under your nose--" In here, Ethan exchanged a meaningful look with Mick, the latter looking confused, "--I could still feel you breathing, shallow as it is." He grimaced. "We tried to tug you gently out of Xavier's arms, but he was holding you tight. There was no help for it. We have to break his arm."]
No? Well, I'm happy to point it out. Its in Ethan's narration of how he found out Hazel was alive. See these following sentences? [But when my hand passed accidentally under your nose--" In here, Ethan exchanged a meaningful look with Mick, the latter looking confused, "--I could still feel you breathing, shallow as it is." ] So why did Ethan exchange a meaningful glance with Mick?
Simple.
Because Ethan had lied. :)
His hand didn't pass accidentally under Hazel's nose! I mean, who does that? What Ethan did, and would never confess to, is that he tried to kiss Hazel on the lips! I mean a little creepy yeah, considering Hazel was supposed to be dead, but kind of adorable too. He just wanted to say goodbye. And you know what this MEANS? He'd been in love with her long before he kissed her! (Maybe that's even why he kissed her when she got drunk and not because to shut her up as he had said. Who knows?)
No wonder Mick looked confused as to why Ethan had lied. He saw Ethan trying to kiss Hazel and felt her warm breath that's why he discovered she was still alive. Not because his hand passed ACCIDENTALLY under her nose! I mean, why would his hand even be there?
I guess Mick wasn't the only one with unrequited love. Awww.
Anyway, enough with decrypting BSTZ. Here's Once Zombie Twice Shy!
