"Loki, it's here!" I shout, "The slithering rock!"
The so called, "slithering rock" moves quicker and closer by the second, seeping in and out of the rock sculptures.
"Thor," Loki warns.
"I'm on it," Thor growls and starts to swing his hammer around.
Sif and the warriors three, all brace themselves and hold their weapons at ready.
Loki and I stand there, useless, because he wasn't allowed to bring any weapons, and I was dumb enough to forget mine.
I gulp as I see the slithering rock, begin to almost levitate in the air. Actually, now that I see it close up, it was never slithering. It was floating the whole time.
And it no longer looks like a rock. Now it resembles an eel, like the ones they would have at the aquarium or the zoo.
I feel a touch on my hand, and see Loki, lacing his fingers with mine.
His expression is of terror, just like when he was in the living nightmare.
Thor jumps into the air, letting his hammer carry him up. Sif throws her spear like a javelin, Fandral his sword, Volstagg his ax, and Hogan his spike-ball-thingy. Whatever they're called.
As the Asgardians charge at the eel, Thor brings his hammer down on it, causing the beast to fall down dead as lighting runs through its body.
"Good," I gasp.
"No," Loki says as he tightens his grip, "That's only one."
I'm about to ask him what he means by only one, then I realize that there are about four other eels, surrounding us in an unorderly fashion.
Thor, Sif, the warriors three, Loki, and I brace ourselves, ready to, well, live or die.
Just as an eel lunges at Loki and I, a blinding light comes down on us, and I am no longer on a barren moon. I am flying. I am in the bifrost.
I feel a pulse of energy run through me as I fly. Then it stops. And the feel of flight leaves.
We no longer are facing death, but instead Heimdal and Odin, looking not at all pleased.
"You wasted our time! That was useless!" Odin yells.
But he is not yelling at all of us. He is yelling at Loki. The frost giant.
"You said that he had the gem! And instead, you led us right into a trap!"
Loki's palm is sweaty up against mine. I can't let go, he needs me.
"Father I can-" Loki tries to defend himself.
"Silence!" Odin snaps, "You idiot! You think-"
"He didn't know!" I yell without even thinking.
Odin's piercing gaze shifts from Loki to me.
"He didn't know," I say again, this time quieter.
"And how do you know that?" Odin spits.
"Would he lead us into a trap, just so he can be tortured by the man who wants his head on a plate?"
Odin's gaze falters for a moment, then he turns away and says to us, "Get some sleep. You leave again in two days."
Author's note:
Thank you for over 900 reads! That's stinking awesome! By the way I do not own these characters, they are property of Marvel. I only own Sigyn. And the slithering rocks or eels, are like from the avengers movie, part of the Chitari army...or what's left of it. There will be one more chapter, maybe two, in this book, and then I'll start posting the second book. Thank you so much for your reads, votes, and encouraging comments! Please continue to do so! Enjoy!
