After that night with Stiles, I've been more and more intrigued about him. I didn't find out anything about him. After we rode the carousel, he said he had to go and he left. Me and Isaac were really confused.
I ended up just going home after that. Once I got home I ended up getting texts.
J pearish: where r u I'm off work
Me: I'm @ home. Can't hang
I don't want to see him anymore. He's bad for me.
"Lydia? Is that you?" I hear my grandma say. I look over and she's standing in the kitchen, making an ice cream sundae.
"Hey grandma! How are you?" I ask her, walking into the kitchen, grabbing a spoon. We always share ice cream sundaes together. It's our thing.
"I'm good, sweetheart. How was work?" She asks. We move to the kitchen table and start eating the sundae.
"Boring. I hung out with some kid named Stiles Stilinski today after work," I tell her. My grandma is my best friend. Her and my grandpa have full custody of me, after a situation happened with my parents.
"Stiles?" She asks, confused. Almost as if she knew something.
"Yeah. Why?"
"That boy has been through a lot, my dear." What she said confused me. I don't really know anything about him.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"His mom died about three years ago. Car accident," she says, eating more of the sundae. My stomach drops when she says that. His mom is dead?
"Really? Do you know exactly what happened?" I ask her. We live in a small town, I'm surprised that I didn't know that. Everyone knows everything about everyone.
"His dad was driving them home from their anniversary dinner. Some guy ran a red light and t-boned their car. She died instantly," she says. That is crazy. I can't believe Stiles lost his mom like that. "The driver was drunk and went to jail for 5 months. That wasn't his first offense."
"Wow grandma. I had no idea. He is such a nice kid," I say to her.
"Oh yeah. I know his mom's parents. They moved away when she died. They couldn't handle this town, her favorite place, all the memories."
I'm in shock. That explains why he's kind of closed off. He's probably sad and alone. I have no idea how his dad reacted.

when i got home from the carnival, my dad was awake with an empty bottle of wine next to him. i tried to sneak into my room but he heard me.
"where do you think your going, buddy?" he slurs angrily at me. i just stand there, unable to move. "have you been doing drugs?"
"o-only weed," i say back. lying to my dad is next to impossible. it only gets me into more trouble, more pain. his fist comes hurling at me and lands on my right eye. and then another punch comes my way. and another one, and another one.
i fall to the floor, unable to keep my footing. he gets in my face and starts yelling at me. "you are worthless, stiles. completely and utterly worthless."
he walks back to his chair, and i get back on my feet and run into my room. i slam the door and lock it.
i have no other reaction than to cry. i just start bawling my eyes out, nonstop.
worthless
completely and utterly worthless
i am completely worthless.
