"hey, you're that kid that beat up jordan!" i year a females voice say to me as i started walking towards the carousel to see lydia.
"y-yea i guess," i say back, looking behind me. a beautiful girl is standing behind me, smiling. she is the most beautiful girl i've ever seen in my entire life. "w-who are you?"
"malia tate. where are you off to?" she, malia, says, walking next to me.
"the carousel to see m-my friend lydia," i say as we approach the festival ride, and i see her, lydia. my friend, my best friend. malia grabs my hand, and stops me before i can talk to lydia.
"stiles, baby. she is a whore; you really don't want to involve yourself with her," malia says, trying to move me away from the carousel.
"w-what would y-y-you know?" i stammer, trying to understand this. lydia has always been the nicest person ever to me.
"i've known her for... well forever. we were best friends, until she started rumors about me. she told the entire school lies about me, and started lies about other kids at the school. you will be her next victim. come over here, we can have some fun," malia says, grabbing my wrist, smiling at me. "stiles, this will be so fun." she starts giggling. it was contagious, next thing i knew i was giggling too.
i looked back at the carousel, and my eyes met with lydias. it was only for a second, then she looked away.
"stiles, come here!" malia almost yells, grabbing my arm forcibly. i follow malia, but my eyes never leave lydia as she walks away, off the boardwalk. i wanted to say 'lydia, come here' and 'i like you so much'. but malia was running down the boardwalk with my arm in her tight grip.
i didn't know what to do, so i just followed malia's lead.
-
"stiles, tell me about yourself," malia demands as we stand in line for the only roller coaster at funland.
"i don't like r-r-roller coasters and i don't l-like meeting n-new people," i mutter, barely getting any words out without preforming a stutter.
"you are sooo lame stiles. i wanna know you," she says, trying to take my hand in hers. i don't let her.
"n-n-no you don't. malia you are beautiful but i've got to go," i say, storming off.
"why is your face bruised then?" i stop in my tracks. why is malia so nosy?
"g-g-got into a scruff with s-someone, no big deal." i don't even turn around or wave to malia as i leave the line.
what was i thinking? leaving lydia like that, i went to funland to talk to her. i guess, explain myself to her. my intentions were to confess my feelings for her, i really like her. i want to date her, but the chances of her reciprocating the feelings are slim. but still, i need to tell her.
i decide to text lydia.
Me: hey what are u doing
i start walking to scott's house because if lydia doesn't answer, then i have nowhere to stay for the night. i hope scott would let me stay.
-
"h-hey scott. is it okay if i crash here tonight?" i ask when scott answers the door.
"dude, of course," he says, welcoming me in.
that night, me and scott order pizza and wings. i can't get lydia off my mind. actually, i can't get what malia said about her off my mind.
