(J’S POV)
“Blake! Time for school!” I yelled up the stairs. Today was her first day of preschool.
“But Daddy!” she groaned.
“Nope. No buts. Now are going to come down here or do I have to have uncle Jayy get you?” I asked her.
“No! I’m going!” she said, giggling. I heard her run around upstairs.
“NO! UNCLE DAHVIE! STOP!” I heard her scream and giggle loudly. I laughed and shook my head as Dahvie came down the stairs with a giggling Blake draped over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
“NEVER! I HAVE YOU LITTLE WOLF!” Dahvie yelled.
“GIVE ME BACK THE PRINCESS!” I yelled as I grabbed Blake and sat her on a chair at the bar. I sat a plate of waffles in front of her and some chocolate milk.
“Thanks, Daddy,” she said. She was five now. She knew about her mother, but still called me daddy.
“Who is ready for school?” Jayy asks, walking down the stairs. Blake jumps up and starts to pack her Slipknot backpack.
“ME!” she says as she throws her sketch book in her backpack.
“Let’s go, little wolf,” Dahvie says as he grabs her hand. I get in the car with Jayy and Dahvie and we drive to the school. I glance back at Blake. She looks so much like Carter. She had Carter’s deep golden hair, icy blue eyes, pale skin, and tallness. Today she was wearing her Black Veil Brides shirt, skinny jeans, combat boots, and Carter’s locket.
We pulled up to the school and went inside. We got several nasty stares and I sighed. Most of then looked at Jayy and Dahvie, who as holding her hand.
“Hi!” a lady, in about her late forties, said to us hesitantly.
“Hi, is this the preschool?” I ask as Blake grips my leg.
“Yes, and who is this cutie?” the lady asks, bending down to look at Blake.
“This is Blake Smith, I’m John, and this is Jayy and Dahvie,” I say to her. She looks at us and back at Blake.
“Well, Blake, you excited?” She asks her. “I’m Ms. Sierra,” she says.
“Daddy,” Blake whines. I bend down and hug her.
“Have a good day, sweetie, I will see you in a few hours, okay?” I tell her. She nods hesitantly. I let go of her and stand up. She runs over to Jayy and hugs him.
“By Uncle Jayy,” she says to him.
“Bye Blake, when you get home we will hang out, okay?” he tells her and she nods.
“Bye Uncle Dahvie,” she whispers as she hugs Dahvie.
“Bye Little Wolf, be good, okay? No setting kids on fire,” he says and chuckles.
She grabs Ms. Sierra’s hand and they walk to the class room.
“I’m nervous,” I say as we walk back to the car.

I woke up to my phone ringing.
“Hello?” I ask.
“Yes, is this Mr. Smith?” the voice says.
“Yes, who is this?” I ask.
“This is Mrs. Gates, the principle. I need you to come and collect your daughter, please,” the voice on the other end says.
“Okay?” I say and hang up.
“Jayy! Dahl!! We have to go get Blake!” I yell.
“What happened? School doesn’t end for another hour,” Jayy asks as we get in the car.
“I don’t know,” I say as we pull up. We walk to the office to see Blake sitting in a chair. There is a blonde with a little girl sitting on her lap in the chair next to Blake.
“Are you Mr. Smith?” a woman asks me. I nod. “I’m Mrs. Gates,” she says reaching a hand out. I shake it.
“What is going on here?” Dahvie says as he pulls Blake on his lap. Jayy sits next to him and I sit next to Jayy.
“Blake was caught hitting Sophia,” the principle says.
“No! Sophia started pulling my hair and she hit me in the back! She even called me names!” Blake said.
“”What did she call you, sweetie?” Jayy asks her.
“She called me stupid and ugly. She also said I had a boy’s name!” Blake said, burying her head in Jay’s chest.
“My daughter would do no such thing!” the lady holding Sophia said.
“Blake doesn’t lie,” Dahvie said.
“Shut it, faggot,” the lady said.
“I’ll have you know that my friend is not a bundle of sticks,” Jayy said.
“Whatever. My daughter does not need to be in a school where there is a satanic little freak,” she said.
“Ok, insult me all you want, but do not talk about Blake that way,” Dahvie said.
“Whatever-“the lady started.
“Please, stop,” the principle commanded. “Mr. Smith, I am going to ask that you talk to your child,” the principle said. “You may leave, now.”
Jayy carried Blake to the car and she sobbed into his neck.
“Hey, Little Wolf, it will be okay,” Dahvie whispered to her.
“No it won’t. They all stared at me. They looked at me like I was weird,” she sobbed more.
The rest of the ride was silent.
