Everyone was either at their hotel or at the store doing last minute shopping for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving dinner, except Blake and I. I continued to sit on the porch. “Can you feel my heart” by Bring Me the Horizon comes on and I hum along to it.
“Can you hear the silence?
Can you see the dark?
Can you fix the broken?
Can you feel... can you feel my heart?
Can you help the hopeless?
Well, I'm begging on my knees,
Can you save my bastard soul?
Will you wait for me?
I'm sorry brothers,
So sorry lover,
Forgive me father,
I love you mother.
Can you hear the silence?
Can you see the dark?
Can you fix the broken?
Can you feel my heart?
I'm scared to get close and I hate being alone.
I long for that feeling to not feel at all.
The higher I get, the lower I'll sink.
I can't drown my demons, they know how to swim.
Can you feel my heart?
Can you hear the silence?
Can you see the dark?
Can you fix the broken?
Can you feel... can you feel my heart?”
I sighed and heard a whimper. After putting my ear buds in my pocket, I walk inside to see Blake sleeping on the couch with tears streaming down her cheeks. Fire is sitting next to the couch, watching her helplessly.
“No, no, no, no, no,” Blake mumbled in her sleep.
“Blake?” I whispered. “Blake?” I said louder. “Blake!?” I almost yelled. Her eye shot open as tears continued to fall from her eyes. I kneeled on the floor next to the couch so we were face to face. I awkwardly patted her arm as she sat up.
“Do you want me to phone your dad?” I asked gently as I stood up. She shook her head ‘no’.
“Don’t go,” she whispered when I turned to go outside. I just nodded and sat next to her. Tears were still streaming down her face as I gently hugged her. Dad told me before we got here that it takes her forever to get used to people.
“Nightmare?” I asked her softly. She shook her head ‘yes’. “You wanna talk about it?” she shook her head no. I started to softly sing “When You Can’t Sleep At Night” by Of Mice & Men to her.
“Here in this world I’m awaked with mistakes
But its love that keeps fueling me
Fueling me
Pretty little lady with your swollen eyes
Would you show them to me?
I know I’m not that perfect
But you stay awhile
Baby, then you will see
