(JAYY’S POV)

I carry Blake to the ice cream parlor she loves.  I set her down just outside of it and we walk in.  She quickly finds the family table (the one we always sit at, even with the other bands) and I walk over to the counter.

“One maple bacon and one vanilla,” I tell the guy.  He just looks at me for a minute before nodding and scooping the ice cream.  He hands me it after I paid and I walk over to Blake.  She smiles when she sees the maple bacon.  I don’t know why, but it was and always has been her favorite.

“Thanks Uncle Jayy,” she whispers.  I nod.  Suddenly I see some boys, about sixteen or seventeen, checking her out.  Not very discreetly, either.  I swear they are almost undressing her with their eyes.  I sigh and shoot them the ‘fuck off’ look.  J, Dahv, and I have become scarily good at this look.  Thankfully, Blake doesn’t notice whenever a guy is looking at her that way.  She isn’t our little girl anymore.  Now she is this beautiful woman that has boys fawning over her for nothing more than her looks

Lovely.

J takes it hardest.  He had to deal with this with Carter, too, while growing up.  He said that Carter was exactly like Blake is right now.

(BLAKE’S POV)

I sigh when I realize Uncle Jayy is giving someone ‘the look’ again.  He thinks I don’t notice, but I do.  How am I supposed to avoid it, though?

My physique is beautiful, according to Aunt Mee, Aunt Ella, Aunt Lauren, and Aunt Sammi.  I find it annoying, though.

Do you know how awkward it is to almost suffocate one of your uncles, who is shorter than you, with your tits when trying to give him and innocent hug?

Very.  Very. Very awkward.

I sigh wistfully after my ice cream is gone and we leave.

“Can we stop by the store? I want to get some food for dinner tonight?” I ask.  Uncle Jayy just nods as we go in.  The guys and Dad know that when I’m upset that I like to cook.  They used to argue with me but eventually gave up.

We walked in and got some green bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, and some meat.  I convinced Jayy to get some things for desert, too.  We also got some chocolate bars and chips for later tonight.  We went to the front of the store and paid.  The walk home was silent.

We were about a block away from the house when we saw a man with a yellow lab curled on his lap.  The man was wearing ratty clothing and had dirt all over him.  He sat there petting the sleeping pooch and muttering soothing things to her.  I looked at Uncle Jayy and he nodded.

“Excuse me,” I asked the man.

“Yes?” he asked, warily.

“Is she okay?” I asked simply.  I could see that this man loved the dog more than himself.

“I don’t know, she hasn’t eaten in a while,” he muttered.

“Here,” I said, holding out a two bags of chips and three water bottles from my purse.  “For you and her.  It isn’t much, but it should tide you over for now” I whispered as I set the things down.

“Thank you,” he said.  “I’m Steven, and his is Bella,” he whispered, gently shaking the dog.

“I’m Blake and this is Jayy,” I tell him.  People started looking at us weird.

“Thank you, again,” the man said.  He opened one of the bags of chips and gently fed the dog.  I smiled before saying a quick ‘goodbye’.

Jayy and I started to walk home, again.

“I’m proud of you, Blake,” he whispered.

“For what?” I whispered back.

“For that.  You helped someone today,” he said.  We walked the rest of the way home in silence.  I walked to the kitchen without saying a word.  I heard all three of them whispering before Uncle Dahv came in.

“Whatcha doin in here?” he asked.

“Im a female, don’t I belong here?” I asked, trying to wipe away the tears slowly coming out of my eyes.

“But then that means that I belong in the garage! I don’t know how to fix a car!” he wined. I giggled and turned back to my dough, watching as the yeast caused it to slowly rise.  I heard the kitchen door close as I started to shred some cheese.

“What!?!” I heard someone yell, causing me to jump and cut my finger on the cheese shredder.

“Ow!” I yelled.  Three worried bodies came rushing over to me all at once.

“What happened?!” Dad asked.

“I cut my finger when someone decided to yell during quiet-house-or-else-no-food-for-your-ass time,” I muttered.

“Sorry,” they all said at once.  Jayy went off to somewhere and Dad came over to check on the wound.  Nothing too bad, but it still hurts like a mother fucker.

“Hurts like a mother fucker?  Blake you know I don’t like it when you cuss,” Dad said.  I looked at him confused.

“Did I say that out loud?” I asked.  Uncle Dahv was sitting at the table, trying to keep from bursting out laughing.  “Sorry Daddy, I have grown up around Dahv and Jayy, though,” I pointed out.  Jayy came back a handed me a band aid.  I quickly put it on before turning back to the food.  I started humming to myself softly as the guys went back to the front room.

“Dinner!” I shouted about two hours later.  I pulled out the last pan of cupcake and set them on the counter to cool as I took the pizzas over to the dining room table.  They were both supreme-style, but one had tomatoes and sauce on it while the other didn’t.  I didn’t like ANYTHING tomato.  No spaghetti sauce, ketchup, anything.  I tolerated BBQ sauce.

“Yay!”  Dahvie said in a kid voice as he loaded his plate.  I giggled before returning to the kitchen.  I took the cupcakes out of the pan and set them on a wire rack to cool faster as I made the frosting.  After the frosting was ready, I put it in one of my bags that was already equipped with a tip and started to ice them.

“Blake?! You going to come eat!?!” I heard Dad shout.

“No, not right now.  Go ahead and put it away, I can get some later!” I shouted back.  I finished the last cupcake and dusted powdered sugar on the Devil’s Food cupcakes that were elegantly topped with a generous swirl of fudge icing.

“Cupcakes!?” they asked all at once.  I nodded and set them on table as well.  I ran to my bed room and grabbed my laptop before settling on the couch.  I sighed as I looked up online schools.  My plan was to finish this year online, and hopefully get into a charter school for next year.
