<Caroline's p.o.v.>

"Hi mom."

Brontë got a call from her parents. I wouldn't want to interrupt or distract her, so I went upstairs. I didn't know what to do, so I went into the bedrooms of the guys. I was careful not to invade their privacy too much, so I merely got a feel of the general atmosphere and colors of the room. I liked Zayn's room the most. Only his was sort of tidy. I found nothing else to do without feeling too bad for roaming around unwanted. Somehow, my feet lead me to the music room. I saw the piano and with a sigh, I sat down on the chair. I felt my heartbeat increase, I didn't know why. I tried to play some songs. It wasn't without mistakes, but it still sounded like the same song, so I didn't bother correcting them all. I had even forgotten several parts of songs. I was playing for myself so it didn't matter how bad I played. After a while, I did get tired of not being able to find the right notes anymore, so I started to play the only song I knew by heart: Big snow in Salzburg from David Nevue. I found the title to be fitting, as I could easily imagine the snowflakes falling down at night. I smiled as my hands danced on the right notes. My body swerved with the rhythm. As I finished, I was caught off guard by applause. My body jerked from the surprise and I let out an involuntary scream. I was a sucker for jump scares. They laughed at my reaction. Everyone had gathered at the door, but were now setting themselves down in the sofas.

"Don't sneak up on me!"

"That was beautiful!"

"Yeah, I can't believe you say you can't play. That was great!"

There was a general agreement.

"How long have you guys been standing there?"

"Long enough to hear you play."

I could only hope they heard just the last song.

"By the way, thank you guys for yesterday. We had a great time and it was very kind of you to let us stay over."

"Yeah, thanks! You shouldn't have done all that, but still, thank you."

"You're more than welcome!"

The guys smiled at us.

"So, how was rehearsal?"

"Weary."

"You girls got to sleep as long as you want to, we had to get up at six."

"Two hours of sleep really isn't enough."

"Two?! Was it that late yesterday?"

"We were back at 3:30, but it took us a while until we were all in bed."

I could see they were really tired. I felt a little guilty. If Brontë and I weren't here, they could just go to bed and rest.

"I had no idea it was that late."

I got up and searched for Brontë's eyes. I tried to make a subtle signal whether we should leave. She didn't really understand, so I had to say it out loud.

"We should let you guys rest."

"No, don't leave."

"We can't do anything when you're all sleepy. You can let us know when you've gotten some sleep and want to meet up, right Brontë?"

"Yep, she's right."

"I suppose..."

The guys seemed to seethe validity of my point, so I initiated leaving by putting my shoes back on.There was little protest as we hugged everyone goodbye. The guys waved at usuntil we couldn't see them anymore. I hoped we'd get to meet up again soon. Wetook the subway back to our hostel where we had dinner later on. The rest ofthe day we hung out in the lounge of the hostel where we played some cards andchecked our social media. Recalling the day before we went to bed, I fellasleep with a smile on my face. e UѽF
