"What's going on?"
"Thank you. I don't know how I can repay you."
Niall was talking to Caroline.
"No problem. You just make her happy, that's how."
"I will."
He smiled.
"Caroline?! What the hell?"
"You can thank me later. Have fun!"
"Bye! Thanks again!"
Niall waved at Caroline and lead me into the car. On the inside, the car was spacious. Niall sat next to me.
"Can you please explain me what is going on?"
"You have been kidnapped. You're best friend betrayed you. You will be forced to spend a whole evening with me which includes dinner."
"So with other words, you and Caroline somehow coordinated so that you could take me out for dinner?"
"Well, yeah, but my version sounds better."
It made me laugh. He laughed along. The car stopped at some restaurant. Niall took my hand to help me get out of the car. As we walked, he put his hand on my waist. I could help but feel giddy.
"Have you made a reservation?"
A man in a black suit barely looked up.
"Yes, Niall Horan."
He immediately lifted his head.
"Oh, of course! Come, this way please!"
Niall smiled at me. We followed the man to a table in a corner of the restaurant. The light was dimmed and a candle stood on the table.
"A waiter will soon be with you", the man said as he took our coats and handed us a menu.
I took a look inside the menu. There were quite a lot of pricey things.
"Wow. Isn't this a little too expensive?"
"I'm paying, you don't need to look at the price. Eat what you want."
He smiled. I decided to go with a pasta. Niall had already put down his menu and was curiously looking at me.
"What are you taking?"
"Steak. You?"
"I think I'll go for spaghetti carbonara. It sounds good."
He smiled.
"What are you smiling for?"
"I was looking at you, which gives me enough reason to smile."
I grinned shyly and blushed. Dinner was lovely. He made me laugh quite a few times. One time, I had to do my very best to stay calm and try not to laugh and swallow at the same time. He saw that, which made him laugh, which made me laugh even more. For desert we had some ice cream. He fed me some of his and I did the same. I wasn't able to finish mine, so he ate the rest. I can assure you, that boy can eat a lot. After dinner, he stood up to pay at the register. He didn't show me the bill, so I was guessing it had been an expensive first official date. He came back with our coats.
"Let's go for a little walk."
I agreed. We went outside and I felt the cold air overwhelming me, causing me to shiver. Niall noticed and so he pulled me closer to him. I instantly felt warmer. I put my hand around his waist, feeling comfortable with him. It made me smile. We went off on our stroll.
"Are you enjoying our first official date?"
I looked at him.
"I love it! You were really funny at dinner. But you shouldn't let me laugh while I 'm eating, that almost went wrong."
He laughed at the memory.
"What about you? Did you like it?"
"It was perfect. Well, perfect so far."
Our eyes locked.
"So far?"
"The night isn't over yet. It can always get just a little better."
I smirked and frowned slightly. I could think of a few reasons why it would get better, a second date for instance, or a kiss. However, I knew I shouldn't count on it too much. I had enjoyed myself. How could I not, as I went a date with someone I'd been gushing about to my best friend for a whole year? Yet I sincerely doubted he felt the same. We were walking down some park. Besides us, it was desolate.
"Where do you want to sit?"
I shrugged. As long as I was with him, I didn't where we were.
"It doesn't matter for me."
He picked a bench looking over a small pond. Immediately after I sat down, I jumped back up. He looked worried and a tad confused.
"Cold bench."
He started to laugh and a little embarrassed, I joined in. When he stopped laughing, he pat his lap.
"You can sit on my lap, if you want."
I would have declined, if only he hadn't said 'if you want'. If I wouldn't sit on his lap, I would actually say something along the lines of 'you're gross, I'm not sitting on your lap', so I had to sit on it. Either that or I simply couldn't turn down those ocean blue eyes. As I sat down, he put his arms around me. So I had to put my arms around his neck. Sitting this close to Niall, really couldn't be healthy. I felt my heartbeat increase. When he looked me in the eyes, I realized exactly how close we were sitting. I could feel his breath on my face. I glanced at his lips. We were close enough to kiss. Butterflies erupted at the thought. I think he felt it too, as he slowly leaned in, testing the waters. I couldn't move. So I just glanced at his lips. He seemed to understand, as he closed the distance between us by placing his lips on mine. I didn't know my heart was capable of beating this fast. I was surprised it hadn't exploded from happiness yet. A bit unsure of what to do, I followed his lead. His hands grabbed me close. I placed my free hand on the side of his face in response. He deepened the kiss. The butterfly feeling exploded all over my body. I don't know how long we kissed, but it wasn't long enough. As we pulled apart, I had to force my eyes open and accept that the kiss had ended. He grinned.
"Now it's perfect."
I felt flattered, resulting in a giggle. His hand started softly rubbing my leg as we engaged inanother kiss. It resulted in goosebumps all over my body.
