Madeline refused to move because if she did, she would be walking to her own execution. So instead of it going the easy way, her guards came and picked her up by her arms, hauling her out of the auditorium. As she was carried out of the large doors, she could see her new friends waving to her.

Is this goodbye?

After the guards had brought Madeline back downstairs, this time, her hands weren't cuffed, but her feet were. They pushed her down in the seat she had sat before and waited. The guards didn't look at her, as if she didn't exist, and Andy and Lieutenant Jay came walking in.

"Welcome back, Madeline. I'm going to tell you everything that's going to happen down here today, okay? So listen closely." Andy sat down in his chair, this time with no notebook.

"We are going to try to get you to use your power on command, whether it be yourself or by us. If you fail to bring forth your power, either by refusing to do so or not being able to, we will move to the next method, which is pain."

Madeline's eyes widened. She was scared. She didn't know how to summon her powers, and she sure as hell didn't want to be hurt because of it.

Andy, seeing Madeline's horrified expression, sighed. "I don't WANT to hurt you, please remember that. If it does come to that resort, I will not be the one executing it, but Lieutenant Jay will." Andy looked over to his second in command who had that stupid evil smile on his face again.

"O-okay..."

"Stand up, Madeline." Andy waved his hand upward, indicating she do as he say.

Madeline stood up, trembling a bit.

"Now face the opposite wall."

She did as she was told and noticed a scarecrow dummy standing upright in front of the wall with a red target painted on it.

"I want you to burn down the dummy."

Madeline then understood why they had not handcuffed her. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, trying to summon her power. She felt stupid because she didn't know how these things worked, but she would try her best.

Madeline pointed both hands, palms forward, towards the dummy. She furrowed her eyebrows and concentrated as hard as she could.

Flames, flames, flames, fire, burning

Madeline tried to mentally bring forth her power by thinking of anything hot.

Nothing happened.

Then, for a brief second, Andy crossed her mind, but that second was short lived when flames shot from her hands, missing the dummy by a lot and almost hitting one of the soldiers.

"Good job!" Andy stood up clapping, ignoring his soldier's profanity towards Madeline almost killing him. He looked excited and amused as if he knew something.

"I-I did it!" Madeline smiled, victorious.

The lieutenant looked bored and grunted. "Hit the target this time you stupid Conde-"

He was cut off by Andy clearing his throat rather loudly. The lieutenant looked at him and shook his head.

"Very sorry, Mr. Biersack. This girl needs conditioning."

"I don't think that's necessary right now. We will see." Andy, while talking to his lieutenant, never moved his eyes away from Madeline. "Again."

Madeline's smile dropped.

Can I even do it again? And why did thinking of Andy help me??

Madeline held her hands up once more, taking a deep breath, then trying to do it again. After a few failed tries, she huffed, upset.
