Getting completely lost in the sketch she hadn't noticed the last hour bell ring for a few minutes. One of the other kids in class, Deanne gave her a quick nudge to get her attention.

"Thanks, I wasn't paying attention." She replied.

"Obviously." Deanne told her before getting up to head out the door.

Joline put her things back into the book bag and flung it over her shoulder and left the art room. Time to finally go home, another day over with,  she thought as she went down the hall and out to the double doors in the back of the school.  Walking home she did her best to move a little faster than normal, for once she didn't have any homework tonight, no mind numbing test to study for. That put her in a great mood for the afternoon. It would give her time to do the things she wanted to do, instead of things she had to do. Joline was more than happy to get home, wanting nothing more than to meditate and read more books to help her focus on it.

She also wanted to learn more on dream recognition and astral travel. She had found the idea of soul traveling to be a rather fascinating subject. She was interested in trying it, once she knew more about it. She had read a couple of books about it recently. It seemed to be similar to meditation but with astral travel your spirit leaves the body. That would be something she'd like to learn to do. She was mostly curious to know where her soul would end up. It was a curiosity that had been gnawing at her for the last few days. A curiosity that more than likely wouldn't be dismissed or forgotten.

She looked around disconnecting herself from her innermost thoughts and noticed that she'd power walked the first four blocks away from school. She was more than happy to rush a little faster, she was already halfway home. She jogged the next few blocks, there were a few other kids walking home as well. It had gotten nice out, but it was still a little cool for early spring. She didn't mind it. She didn't mind cooler weather. She didn't hate the summer but the worst was the august heat. anything above eighty degrees was too much for her. She hated it when it was so hot that her hair would stick to her sweating body. She felt sickened by the thought of it. As she rounded the corner she was almost home another half a block and she could bolt back into her solitude, to he comforting bedroom.

Once she had finally made it home she opened the door and saw her mother as always on her cell phone with work. She hoped when she got older that unlike her mother she wouldn't have to work half as hard as her mom did. When her mother turned to say hello, she waved and poked her head into the fridge grabbing two cans of coke and and then a bag of chips off of the counter, Joline darted up the stairs and to her bedroom. She walked in to the room and threw her book bag down on the bed and cracked open the first can of coke. She chugged down about half of it before doing anything else.

"Much better." She spoke out loud to herself as she often did when she was alone. She had no idea why she would talk to herself, but she had done it for as long as she could remember. Then she slowly turned around. She couldn't explain it but suddenly she felt as though she was being watched by someone or something. She shook it off, hoping that it was nothing more than lack of sleep or her mind playing tricks on her, but that was a saying that she never really believed to be true. She didn't think that her mind had that kind of a sense of humor. If she was seeing things that weren't there she knew there was more to it than that. She shrugged it off for the time being.

She just flopped down on the bed and went back to her coke and opened up the bag of rippled potato chips. She snacked on them for a while as she flipped through her dream book and read more on dreams and astral projection. She wanted to try it but wasn't sure. She was curious but nervous at the same time. What if her soul took her somewhere she'd rather not be? What if she didn't return? She had a book on the subject that she hadn't quite finished reading and figured the best thing to do was to start there.
