I turned my gaze away from him, his power rolling through the air and attacking my skin. I felt like I was a sponge, taking in as much of him as I could get, and refusing to let any get out.

It wasn't a for sure sign of being his mate, the one true way to find your mate was skin to skin contact; and that was one thing I absolutely could not allow.

The reason I couldn't have a mate, wouldn't allow myself to have one, if because as soon as I found one, war would erupt. As soon as any Alpha heard  of a fox still being alive, well, let's just say that it would be short lived.

"Daniel!" My body stiffened as they walked over here, looking up only once they stood in front of our table.

Daniel stood with a grin playing on his lips, his bright eyes shining as he took in his packs Beta and Alpha. "So you must be Xander that everyone keeps talking about?"

I looked up to find his green eyes trained on me, a simple nod leaving him. "Yes, I do suppose that's me."

His voice was velvet spreading across clean skin, smooth with no catches. I cocked my head at his words, letting his emotions float through me.

Love.

"Don't you think that's a bit too soon?" I asked Clary as I looked away.

He's your mate, it'll be love at first sight.

I rolled my eyes internally, looking up to find him still searching me for something. I turned to find Alex scrunching his face at Xander, his hand waving in front of him. He broke whatever connection we had, his emerald eyes looking directly at Daniel.

"Would you like me to look through your mind now or later?" He spoke quietly, his gaze flickering every so often to me.

"Nose fine with me." Daniel kidded even in the worst of times. I watched the Alpha place both of his hands against his temples before he shut his eyes, a glaze forming over both of their bodies.

I looked to Alex and El, who both watched them in awe. "I'm going to go out my stuff up, tell Daniel to find me soon okay?"

I spoke as I stood up, walking through the hallways to my locker. As I walked down the hallway I accidentally numbed shoulders with a girl who hadn't turned yet, the smell of wolf laying dormant on her human skin. I watched her walk down the hallway before everything changed.

I stood in some backyard watching the girl who had just bumped into me talking animatedly with Xander, a smile on her lips as he cracked a joke.

I gasped when a rogue jumped from a tree above them, his long yellow teeth latching onto the crook of her neck. Xander ripped him off and snapped his neck, but that didn't help the girl.

She lay on the ground with blood pouring out of her, turning ghastly pale as she tried to breathe through all the blood. A cry came from the crowd that surrounded them, a middle aged woman and man running forward. The woman collapsed as she screamed, tears pouring down both of their faces.

"My baby! Please Goddess no not her!" I watched helplessly, Xander full of sorrow as the girl died on the backyard floor.

I got ripped back to the present, standing in the hallway against the wall. I was panting restlessly, hands covers my arms as my eyes darted everywhere. I could still hear their cries of agony, the smell of blood still potent in the air.

"Ashe! Ashe!" I looked up to the wide eyes of Alex, his face full of confusion and worry.

"I'm sorry, I have to go." I tried to get out of his grip, tried to figure out where the hell that girl went.
