Chapter 2: Growl 으르렁
Min Chi
I felt the cold breeze of air on my face. Uncomfortable, and slightly cold, I shifted myself to the left but immediately fell to the ground. I groaned.
Curse you gravity.
I opened my eyes a little finding my oh-so-outstanding alarm clock. Honestly speaking, that clock never wakes me up on time. 7:30 it said. I growled. Why do I wake up so early on weekends and otherwise on weekdays? I closed my eyes, continuing to sleep. Not even bothering to stand up and go to bed to continue sleeping. I'm not even going to deny it but I'm proud to be a certified lazy person.
"KIM CHI!! WAKE UP! DINNER'S READY!" Don't even get me started with siblings.. That's my sister who just shouted at me from downstairs. I don't know why I'm saying this but she's completely the exact opposite of me. I might describe her as a complete sassy and over protective kind of sister. She doesn't like to be teased, otherwise you'll get a bruise or a deep cut. She's the eldest. She isn't very fond to find a boyfriend 'cause all the boys who courted her got their butt's kicked. On top of that, she's a clean freak. So, whenever my parents aren't around she'll make us clean the whole house.
On the contrary, she's just like that because she doesn't want to commit the same mistake she had years ago. But that's another story for me to tell.
I groaned, once again. I took the blanket off of my face and sat up. Of course, my eyes aren't being cooperative. I stood up and went to the bathroom to do my morning routine. I opened the door to my bathroom, still walking like a drunkard. I yawned. Why am I this tired? Hmmm... Let me recall...
Flashback
"You better be safe, or else..." Baekhyun said, as he pointed his index finger at me even if he's 3 meters away from me. I raised an eyebrow. I glanced at the house that's in front of me and glanced back to him. "Are you blind? My house is clearly 5 meters away from me... the gates, rather. Why would something bad happen to me, in front of my house? Besides, I'm going inside. You don't have to worry about anything." I said reassuring him that I'm safe and accept the fact that he isn't using his common sense right now. I could sense he's annoyed at my sudden remark because he closed his eyes for a second and opened them again.
This boy obviously has short temper.
Well thank you, Captain Obvious.
Shut up.
"Don't say I didn't warn you." he said as-a-matter-of-fact. I sighed. I don't have the energy to argue but my curiosities are winning. "And may I add, why do you care?" I asked completely annoyed. He stood there and look up at the sky, not saying anything. Then there's silence. "You're my best friend. Why would I not worry?" he said nonchalantly. And there I was, bewildered at his sudden response.
After that I didn't say anything and decided to go inside, not looking back. I could feel him staring at me as I opened the door. When I closed it, I leaned and stared at the ceiling. Is he still there? My thoughts came rushing with difficult questions and I think my stomach just exploded. Okay, too much exaggeration...
I debated with myself, thinking if he's still there or if I should look outside the long glass window beside the door. My curiousities builds up inside of me. So, I finally decided to look outside the long glass window... Yes! He left already! For a moment there I thought he's some kind of a creepy boy.
End of Flashback
"Kim Chi, who's the boy that came with you last night outside the house?" My mom said smiling as she placed her famous stew on a big bowl and look at me. Appa, Unnie, Dongsaeng, and Baby Dongsaeng stopped eating and looked at me with surprise faces. I hate this faces. They always do this when my mom talks about me having a boyfriend. But it's always a false alarm. I don't know why, but they all want me to have a boyfriend, so I can experience what life is...
Pathetic.
"False Alarm. He's just a new best friend I met at school... Ya! Hyong Mi! Can you pass me the bread and butter?" I said as I turned my attention to Hyong Mi who is the youngest. The eigth-year-old kid did what I told him to. He passed it to me with a curious look. "누나 남자 친구있어? (You have a boy friend, Noona?)" San Beok said.
I nearly choked at his words. How can I have a boyfriend at this personality and appearance? I mean, I'm ugly physically but not mentally. And let's face it, boys these days only wants a girlfriend that's beautiful inside and out. Where are the old times where boys used to court girls? Unlike now, some girls are the ones who's courting the boys. The funny part is, some boys aren't boys. They're just a boy outside and a girl inside. Hey, it's my own thoughts, okay?
"뭐? 아니! (What? No!)" I protested grabbing my sandwich and continued eating. They continued to stare at me while eating and I pretended to not care. "되도록? (Is that so?)" My mom said nodding with a playful smile. I rolled my eyes and continued to eat. "Kim Chi, Can you go with me to the mall?." asked my sister, Yoon Ji. I nodded and went upstairs to my room.
I grab my school bag and unzipped it. Then I saw something. Aishh.. BAEKHYUN YOU BABO!!!! I thought as I saw his phone inside my bag. I close my eyes. Should I carry this with me? or should I return it to him on Monday? I debated with myself and finally decided to just leave it. I grab my phone and my wallet and went downstairs.
"가자 (let's go!) " my sister said as she kissed my mom's cheek. The two boys look at us. "Ya! Yoon Ji noona, can you buy me a new book?" asked Hyong Mi looking at her. Yoon Ji-unnie smiled and nodded, tapping his head. Hyong Mi returned it with a smile pretending to be a good boy and slightly hoping that she'll buy him something to eat too.
"Noona! Can you buy me a new book too? I gotta show it to Han Rin." San Beok said to Yoon Ji-unnie. Yoon Ji-unnie immediately frowned and glared at San Beok. She hit him with her hand bag which she uses at work. San Beok whinced and covered himself with his hands. "Ah! Ah! 하지마! (Stop it!)" Yoon Ji-unnie stopped and said, "Han Rin my butt! Study first! You're too young for my best friend!" She scolded San Beok who long to see Han Rin, Yoon Ji-unnie's best friend.
"Bye, Eomma. Bye, Appa!" I said as I kiss their cheeks and pulled Yoon Ji-unnie outside before she could murder San Beok. That boy is so flirty.

"Hmm... If you're Hyong Mi, what book will you find interesting? this or.. this?" Yoon Ji-unnie said as she raised the two books. We've been here for about an hour now. I picked 4 books for me and a book for San Beok. Yoon Ji-unnie's still finding a book for Hyong Mi. It's not because Hyong Mi's her favorite but he's just an eith-year-old he must do his best and Yoon Ji-unnie is helping him.
"I think this one's better." I said picking the colorful one because the other one is boring. Yoon Ji-unnie nodded and place the other book to the shelf and placed the other book, which I picked, to the counter, along with the other books. "That's about it, and we're done for the day." she said as she rest both of her arms to her hips.
I roamed around the book store while Yoon Ji-unnie is paying for the books. "Kim Chi?" somebody behind me said. I turned my head and saw Baekhyun smiling. I looked at him surprised and shock, at the same time. Wha??
What is he doing here?
