Chapter 7: What?! 뭐



Third Person


  Min Chi's eyes widened at the sight of her precious calendar, her auntie gave her last Christmas. It was a calendar made in Italy. She made sure that no one touches it, but now, for her it's not important. Her best friend is going to South Korea tomorrow. It was all too sudden, how did she get permission to her parents? Her parents are extremely over protective on their daughter. Min Chi tought as she began to process the fact that Mia will be here tomorrow.


  She knows she should be happy, but who wouldn't be surprised if your best friend from another country can pass by her over protective parents and her sassy little sister? Not to mention school, but I'm pretty sure there's no such problem with that 'cause she's Top 1 in her class. Min Chi didn't even thought of a surprise party, but all of her savings were now gone. If it weren't for her lovely books. Not that it mattered.


  "That trouble maker." Min Chi said as she sipped a cup of her coffee while thinking about Mia. Mia and Min Chi has been best friends since Min Chi visited the Philippines because her uncle decided to have a catering business some where in Makati and Eastwood. They met at Starbucks which is near her uncle's house. Because of some communicating issues, Min Chi hasn't learn the language Tagalog yet. Mia helped her since Mia knows how to speak Korean.

Min Chi


  I look at the glass window wondering if Ms. Lee is absent or not. The long awaited article is in my hands. I turns out that the whole school knows that I'm writing an article about Baekhyun. The fan girls of Baekhyun said that I shouldn't fall for Baekhyun 'cause they are the only ones who are perfect for him. Pshhh, as if I want Baekhyun, he can be yours without me caring. 


  "Kim Chi is that your article?" someone asked behind me. I turn around expecting to see Ms. Lee but it was only Baekhyun. My happy face became a frown and I turn around to look at the window again. "Kim Chi-ah." Baekhyun said shaking my shoulder. I look at him and he poked my cheek. I hit his right shoulder sticking my tongue at him.


  "Min Chi, are you passing your article now?" someone asked. We looked at Ms. Lee at the same time with a smile on her face. I stand up properly and handed her my article with a little bow. She looked at it and smiled. "I hope you had a good time interviewing Baekhyun. See you in class, students." she said and opened the door of her room.


  "I haven't seen it yet!" Baekhyun whined as he hit me lightly on the shoulder. I showed my pissed look with my teeth showing. I look at his legs and kick it. "Ah! YA!" he said as he held his right leg wincing in pain as I laughed. "Look at the bright side" I paused as I patted his left shoulders. "Babo, there's no bright side." he said still holding his right leg. I realized something.


  "At least, you're flexible!" I said as I patted his head imitating his face. He stick his tongue out like a child. Just then, my phone rang. I took it from my skirt's pocket as I accepted the call without looking at the caller. "여보세요? (Hello?)" I greeted the caller.


  "Kim Chi-ah!" the voice said. San Beok. That's the only boy who'll call me right now. "뭐?! (what)" I asked him as I look at Baekhyun. "Who is it?" he asked me. I put my hands on the mouthpiece of my phone, "San Beok" I said and put it back to on my ear, again. Baekhyun nodded, smiling. "What do you want?" I ask him, placing my right hand on my hips. 


  "Can you go to the Incheon Airport? I think, you know who's coming." San Beok said, and I could feel him smirk. Aigoo, this kid. If it weren't for that calendar I would be clueless right now "알았어 (okay), but I'm telling you, if I ever get my hands on that neck of yours, I will--" I said but was interrupted by him.


  "Haha. 누나 (sister), I'll get going now!" he said and then hung up. I look at my phone, thinking if I'm going to call him or kill him. If I'll call him, he won't pick up, obviously. I sighed and sat on the bench, Baekhyun following me. I kicked the floor a few times, "What happened?" Baekhyun asked me, curiously.


  "아니야 (nothing). Byun, can I bother you with something?" I asked him and he looked at me for a second. "What is it?" he asked me rather curious. "Can you go with me to the Incheon Airport?" I asked him with my puppy eyes. He look at me and I let him think. "Okay, but who is it? Your uncle? A family friend?" he asked me again, curiously.


  "아니 (no). It's Mia. My best friend from the Philippines." I said and he nodded. "Baekhyun, Mr. Jung wants to talk to you about something." some boy from his club said, walking away. He looked at me, "Can I talk to Mr. Jung first? Wait for me at the school's gates later." he said and stood up. I look at him, still sitting on the bench. 


  Just then, a girl from our class with her best friend beside her walking towards him carrying, what I think is a cake. Aigoo, so romantic. I smiled at them, expecting Baekhyun would accept it and smile. "Baekhyun oppa, she stayed up all night to make you this cake." her best friend said as she held her elbows. The girl carrying the cake just smiled shyly. Aww, 켭타!!! (kyeopta).


  I grinned at them. Seeing the sight of Baekhyun and a girl just makes me explode (in a good way). They're really cute! I swear, I could just eat them, but I think Mia will treat me. So, there's no reason to eat that cake, it's all for Baekhyun. It's been a while since I saw Baekhyun with some girl. Since Baekhyun became my best friend, I noticed he doesn't hang out with other girls anymore. 


  "I'm sorry, but I don't like cakes." Baekhyun said and I was startled. What is he talking about? He's obviously lying! What the? Before I could even protest, he walk pass the girls with an emotionless expression. I stood up, angry, pointing my index finger at him. "That rascal!" I said as I glared at him. He didn't saw me as he continued to walk towards Mr. Jung's office.


  I saw the girl crying, her head down. Her best friend is comforting her. I walk towards them with an embarrassing face. Aigoo, that boy, who does he think he is? He has no manners. Doesn't he like receiving gifts from his fan girls? He really doesn't know how to accept and appreciate special things. Aigoo. I feel so sorry about him.


  "Forgive him. I think he's in a bad mood." I said bowing my head multiple times. The girl's best friend looked at me, "I didn't know that he doesn't like cakes." she said wondering. I gave her an embarrassing smile with my teeth showing. "I'm really sorry. I apologize for his behavior. I'll just hand him this cake you made." I said extending my hands for the cake.


  The girl gave me the cake and ran away with her best friend, crying. I look at the girl again feeling a bit embarrassed about Baekhyun's behavior. That rascal, he should have accepted it even if he doesn't like cakes. Even if he's effortless to anything, he should appreciate the effort of others. Aishh, I'm having a head ache because of him.


  I sat on the bench again carrying the cake. I look at the cake that's now on my lap. "Should I open this?" I ask myself as I lay my head on the sides of the box. It's cold. I thought as I decided to look at it. I opened the box and saw a white cake with a writing that says...


  '백현, 오빠, 사랑해요~!!' (Baekhyun oppa, I love you~!!)


  This is just the sweetest thing! I smiled and thought that Baekhyun will love it. Maybe he's just shy so he said that. And I think he's out of his mind when he said that. I smiled and closed the box again.


  "Ya! I thought you'll wait for me at the school gates?" a voice said, I turn around to see Baekhyun panting. I walk towards him with the cake in my hands. Once he noticed I have a cake he smiled. "Is that for me?" he asked me as he took it. I look at him, did he really not notice this is from the girl you rejected a while ago?


  He look at me for a second and opened the box. "Baekhyun, oppa, I love you~!!" he said as he read it. His eyes widened as he said the last part. I look at him, confused and slightly mad that he didn't notice that this is a cake made by one of his fan girls. "Saranghaeyo?" he asked me, confused, shock, and surprise is his emotions.


  I nodded and pointed my index finger at the cake. "I can read too." I said sarcastically as I look at him with a playful smile. His face became emotionless and he look at me. "Wait, is this the cake made by the girl earlier?" he asked me. I look at him and nodded with a laughable expression. He really didn't noticed. "You know I'm not good at baking. And she's the only girl who just gave you the cake." I said nonchalantly, chuckling.


  "Let's go?" he said as he smiled. He took the cake! Yes! Mission complete! I mumbled to myself. I nodded and we walk towards his car. Baekhyun's on the driver's seat and I'm beside him. I grab my seat belt and put it on as he did the same. He handed me the cake signalling me to put it on the back. I did  what he told me and sat back on my seat comfortably.

  "Where is she?" I mumbled as I look at my phone. Nope, she isn't here yet. I look at Baekhyun, he was sitting on a bench, his hands folded. I walk towards him, "I'll be back. I'll buy us some drinks. Don't go anywhere." I said as I pointed my index finger at him. He nodded but didn't look at me. I walk towards the vending machine, preparing some coins.


  I took the coffee and walk towards the bench Baekhyun was sitting. I didn't look up since I'm looking at the coffee. When I got to the bench I saw no one. Baekhyun wasn't here, anymore. I knew it, that boy is such a trouble maker. Instead of looking for him with my hands carrying 2 drinks, I finished drinking my coffee and look for him.


  "Kim Chi!" someone said. I turn around to see Baekhyun, shouting my name with a girl pulling his hand. I look at them closely. Man, Baekhyun fit every girl perfectly. I thought as I saw them like a couple. It makes me want to explode with happiness again. I smiled as I walk towards them.


  "Kim Chi?" someone asked from behind me. I turn around to see.. Mia. I couldn't contain my happiness anymore. Instead I handed her the coffee and hugged her tightly. She was now laughing, with her coffee in her right hand and her luggage in her left hand. "Kelly, who's that?" Mia asked as I parted.


  Oh yeah, I forgot about Baekhyun. I turn around to see Baekhyun still in the arms of a girl. "Byun, this is Mia." I said as I pointed Mia. Mia waved happily at Baekhyun and surprisingly, the girl with Baekhyun turn around. She's pretty and cute at the same time. "Kelly, who's that?" Mia asked the girl. I look at her. "You know her?" I asked and she nodded, smiling.


  "I don't know, I thought he's cute so I asked him to be my tour guide." Kelly said as she look at Baekhyun with a smile. The one that's cheeky. Cute. I like girls who are cute. "Kim Chi-ah." Baekhyun said as he let go of Kelly's and grab my hand. I look at him with a confused look. "Hi! I'm Lee Kelly." she said introducing herself. 


  "안녕! (hi!), I'm Mia Alcantara." Mia introduced herself to Baekhyun. Baekhyun smiled at her as he showed no amotion to Kelly. Kelly smiled and grab Baekhyun's elbows as Baekhyun's grip on me became tighter. Kelly must have noticed it 'cause she looked at me. "Are you his girlfriend?" Kelly said, curiously. "아니 (no). I'm Kim Min Chi, by the way. You can call me Min Chi." I said with a smile.


  She looked satisfied with my answer so she snatch Baekhyun away from me. I laughed at how funny they look. They really, really look cute together. "Korea became more beautiful." Mia said as she walk with me. We left Baekhyun and Kelly ahead 'cause we have a lot to discuss. 


  I nodded and smiled. "You seem to change." I said to her. She laughed and touched her red hair. "I did, huh? I can say that same goes to you." she said as she look at me. I touched my tummy and nodded. She shook her head and pointed at Baekhyun who was struggling to get out of Kelly's grip. "Seems like you have a really special friend there." she said playful. I look at Baekhyun and smiled. "Yes I have."

Seems like I've updated with Love. hahaha. Who do you think is Kelly in Baekhyun and Kim Chi's relationship? Why didn't Baekhyun accept the girl's gift? Who is the girl that Baekhyun rejected? I'm surprised I have been writing for 2 hours, but I think the chapter's woth it. I don't want to wait you for Mia's arrival at the next chapter so I moved it to Cahpter 7.
