Chapter 3: Sister 누나

Third Person

  Baekhyun's smile grew bigger as she saw the face of his best friend. He was about to pull a prank at Min Chi but he cared about her. Besides, her sister is here. Min Chi haven't said anything about her sister, but Baekhyun felt, as if, she was Min Chi's sister. He didn't know anything about her sister nor her actions towards him, but his conscience keeps pulling him away from his funny side when he saw Min Chi's sister.


  "여기서뭐해?! (What are you doing here?!)" Min Chi said as she looked at Baekhyun. She knows she's in a public place and she must greet Baekhyun in a nice way, but it was all too sudden. Seeing her best friend here, in a books store where she let her true nerdy side out. Of all places, why this? She thought as she became emotionless on the outside but inside, she was wrecking all of the things around her. She sighed as Baekhyun just smiled. There's no way she'll make him leave now.

Min Chi


  "Kim Chi-ya! I'm done!" Unnie said. She was walking towards us with her head down looking something inside the paper bag. I've got to hide Baekhyun, otherwise unnie will think something is happening... Wait, why am I so guilty? Nope, you're not guilty, Kim Chi, you're just stating the facts here.


  "Ya! Kim Chi, Let's go-- Oh, hello." Yoon Ji said as soon as she saw Baekhyun beside me. Her look said 'You-must-be-the-boy-who-my-mom-is-talking-about". Then she glanced at me. Nodding her head a little. Although, I don't what the nod is for, I don't get such playful signals.

  "You must be her boyfriend!" Yes, yes,Yoon Ji. He's my-- Wait, what?

  I look at my sister. What is she saying? "Um, actually we're not dating" I said as I noticed Baekhyun feeling a bit uncomfortable and uneasy. I shoot daggers at my sister and whispered to her "What are you talking about?" Of course, it was only for her. So, I hope Baekhyun didn't hear it.

  "You don't need to hide it." she said looking at Baekhyun, ignoring my crazy protest. "But, we aren't really dating, unnie." I said, more serious. Why am I like this? I'm not that affected am I? No, Kim Chi you're just defending your friendship with Baekhyun. 

  This time, unnie looked at me, even Baekhyun. Why are they looking at me like that? Why? Is there something on my face? I raised my right eyebrow. "If you say so.." Yoon Ji said, smiling. I know she's not convinced. Why do I even bother?

  "Not to be rude or anything, but what brings you here?" My sister asked Baekhyun, who snapped out of his thoughts once Yoon Ji asked. Rolling my eyeballs at him, he look at my sister and smiled. "I'm just here to buy a new book." he stated casually. My sister nodded.

  "Do you want to eat with us?" My sister asked him. Don't misunderstand Yoon Ji, she's a really caring sister. Mia (My best friend in the Philippines) was amazed to my sister because she cares a lot about her and she treats her like her own sister. She might as well treat Baekhyun as her brother too.


  "Umm, unnie, I think Baekhyun is about to leave." I said resting my elbow on Baekhyun's right shoulder since I'm beside him. He look at me with a frown. I look at him and gave him a look that says "Just-go-with-it". "Kim Chi, stop being rude. Are you a parrot? You're so talkative, you didn't even let him talk." Yoon Ji scolded me and there I go again with a eyeballs.


  "It's okay, 누나 (big sister). I don't mind." He said and eye smiled at Yoon Ji. Yoon Ji did the same and looked at me giving me a "Be-nice-or-else" look. I rolled my eyes and sighed. Do I have a choice? I thought as we slowly walk towards a restaurant.


  "Are you mad?" I was so focused on the stuffed toys that I didn't noticed Baekhyun was saying something to me. He leaned closer because I wasn't listening, but I decided to turn around. So, his lips and my cheek met. My eyes are about to pop out. My blood is rising. Butterflies are erupting. And most importantly my heart is beating abnormally.


 WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!


I screamed inside. What? What? What? Why is this happening? I was so shocked, I pushed him away. Good thing Yoon Ji didn't saw that, otherwise she'll tell it to mom. I look at Baekhyun. He was shocked too. No, it was an accident, Kim Chi. You're thinking differently. You're just uncomfortable because no boy has ever done that to you. Yeah, that's it.


  "Uhhh..." was all he could say and before I knew it, I ran beside Yoon Ji not bothering to look back. Then, we reached the restaurant where Yoon Ji wanted to eat. Since the seat across me is taken by Yoon Ji, Baekhyun sat beside me which was the only vacant seat on our table.


  Why does he have to seat beside me? He could have just look for a chair so he could sit beside Yoon Ji. I didn't turn around. Yoon Ji must notice our awkward silence since she look at us, concerned. "Um, what would you guys like?" Yoon Ji asked us. We look at her then I glanced at Baekhyun who did the same. We look away, immediately. "Yah, are you guys okay? You want me to order for you two?" Yoon Ji asked us, raising her eyebrow. "Yes please." We both said which made us to look at each other, again, but just like the other time, we looked away. I think Yoon Ji understands so she nodded and said our orders to the waitress.


  "May I ask, how long have you been in your school Baekhyun?" Yoon Ji asked him. He looked at Yoon Ji and smiled. "I started studying there when I was in 1st year high school until now." He answered. Really? I didn't know that. "Oh, so you knew Kim Chi before?" Yoon Ji asked him again. Baekhyun nodded in response.


  "Umm, why do you call Min Chi, Kim Chi?" Baekhyun asked Yoon Ji. Yoon Ji laughed at his question, here we go again with the story telling.. "When Kim Chi was nine she used to cook her own lunch because our parents were always fighting, and none of us 4 are good at cooking. Hers was okay 'cause she's only starting to cook by herself. At that time her favorite dish was Kim Chi. So, she tried to cook it, but then, when she finished cooking, my friend tasted it. She almost want to drink a gallon of water because Kim Chi put a lot of spices in it. My best friend called her Kim Chi because she said it suits her well."

  Why is this happening to me? I'm always obedient, right? I always pray for my love ones and enemies, but why me? I glanced at Baekhyun. I knew it, he's holding himself not to laugh while I'm looking at him. He looks at me and smiled. That is fake, I know he wants to laugh. Nevermind, I'll just look away.


  "It's okay. I promise, I'll teach you to cook some other time." he teased as he patted my head and messed with my hair. Is he being sarcastic? I couldn't look up at him because I was looking at Yoon Ji who was giving me a playful smile saying "ehem-ehem" Remember to kill her later.


  Yoon Ji coughed purposely and gave us a playful smile the one she did earlier to me. We look at her. She turned to Baekhyun, "So, Baekhyun, tell me more about yourself." she asked. I look at him. We became best friends without me knowing who he really was. He smiled, again. Is he not pissed because my annoying sister is asking him so many (personal) questions?


  "My hobbies are singing, dancing, watching movies, playing the piano, listening to music, and a little bit of Hapkido." he paused. Yoon Ji and I  suddenly became interested. Hapkido, huh? San Beok is good at Hapkido. That boy never gets beaten by anyone before. "So, you're good at singing, huh?" Yoon Ji asked, I don't have the guts to ask since I'm still bewildered of the Hapkido thing.


  "Yeah..." He said rubbing the back of his neck. I think he's a bit uneasy. "Can you sing a song for us?" Yoon Ji requested. I glanced at her giving her a look. "Unnie.." I said, but Baekhyun put his hand over my right hand reassuring that it's okay and that he's just shy. "It's okay, Kim Chi." he smiled and started to sing.

  "You're good." Yoon Ji said once Baekhyun finished singing. "고마워(thanks)" he said and smiled. Then the food came. When we were eating, they chatted and I felt that I'm left out. Yoon Ji is good at singing and she's interested to Baekhyun's experience in doing Hapkido. That's why Yoon Ji made San Beok to learn Hapkido, she said it would help him in the future since San Beok is a cry baby.


  They must have noticed me smiling, lost in my own thoughts when I remember San Beok wincing in pain when he had his first fight. It was so hilarious I have to keep my mouth shut otherwise they would think I'm crazy but I think they already think of me that way. I look back at them, my smile disappearing to a "why?" look. "What are you laughing at?" Baekhyun asked me, curious. I shook my head, no. "It's nothing." I said and smiled again.


  "Oh yeah, Kim Chi, I left my phone inside your bag yesterday in the Milk Tea House is it with you?" Baekhyun asked me. I look at him "It's still in my bag, but I left my bag in my room." I said nonchalantly. I thought Baekhyun would nod but he just looked at me. "Relax. I'll give it to you on Monday." I said patting his left shoulder.


  "But I need it now." Baekhyun said pouting. Oh, I know that look. He doesn't need it now, he's just teasing me. -_- <-- My face. "Don't be a cry baby and Man up." I paused drinking my coke, and checking if he has muscles. "Or at least boy up." I said, smiling. WIN!


  Baekhyun glared at me and continued to eat. "Aisshh. Really? You two are so cute! Baekhyun, since we're about to go home, you can come with us so you can get your phone." Yoon Ji said to Baekhyun. I look at Yoon Ji giving her a "What?!-are-you-serious?!" look. This looks are way out of my lead.

 
  "정말요?(really?) 고마워, 누나 (thanks, noona)" Baekhyun smiled and continued to eat happily. Yoon Ji looked at me and smiled again playfully, after that she gave me a thumbs up a "you-can-do-it" look. I gave her a glare and rolled my eyeballs. Now what am I gonna do? One thing is for sure...


  Kill me now.

  안녕!! Yes! It's summer! Is this chapter long? Ah, 대박! But I still have to go to school on Monday to March 29 because I'm a member of a chorale and we're going to sing on our 4th year students' graduation. Did you know how many hours I slept on the following days? Just 5 hours!! Ngayon gusto kong bumawi sa pagtulog! Please lang! Wish me luck! I hope you all have a good summer!
