Chapter 14: Watermelon 수박

Third Person


  "아줌마, 이거 얼마예요? (Ahjumma, how much is this?)" Min Chi asked the woman who was around her 60's. Even if they're far away from Seoul, Min Chi always carry her respect towards people. She has always been that kind of girl, the girl who always respect people even if they're giving the opposite thing to her.


  The woman smiled at Min Chi, while Baekhyun was behind her, staring at her with a smile. Min Chi wasn't looking at any of of them, instead, she focused her attention to the big and juicy-looking watermelons that she has been drooling for once they step foot in this market place near the rest house.


  The gray haired vendor looked at Baekhyun, who didn't let his eyes off of Min Chi. Just by looking at them, I wish my husband has done that to me when I was a teenager like this two. The old woman thought as she smiled and shook her head, pushing away the immature thoughts she has been thinking about.


  When Min Chi realizes that the woman didn't reply, she finally look at her. Min Chi stared at the woman, waiting for her answer. "It's 12,000 won, my dear." the woman replied smiling thoughtfully at Min Chi. Min Chi thought about the cost of the watermelon. That'll take the whole money that Mr. Jung gave me. She thought as she bit her lower lip, scratching her head with her long finger tips. She grinned at the woman, embarrassed.


  Baekhyun noticed that Min Chi scratch the side of her head, indicating that there's a problem. Not wasting any minute, Baekhyun took a step closer, beside Min Chi while looking at him with a concerned look. Min Chi looked at him and smiled cheekily, not wanting to know the problem.


  Baekhyun looked at the woman who was staring at them with a playful smile. Among the people who thought that Min Chi and Baekhyun is a couple, the woman is the only person who knows that they will be the perfect couple.


  "왜? (why?)" Baekhyun asked curiously as he turned his attention again at Min Chi, resting her hand on Min Chi's shoulder. The old woman let out a chuckle as she noticed Min Chi being startled at Baekhyun's touch. Baekhyun was too busy thinking why did Min Chi stiffened at his touch. While Min Chi was now asking herself the same question.


  What must have been the reason?

  Before I could even break the awkward silence, the woman coughed. She must've noticed my reaction towards Baekhyun's touch. I thought as I put my hand down to break a hold of Baekhyun's hand on my shoulder. I glanced at him, seeing that he was staring at me, I quickly look away. Turning my attention to the watermelons, "Hmm, can you go a little lower, 아줌마? (Ahjumma)" I asked her with a face full of pleading.


  She looked at me as I noticed that her face is like my grandmother's. Oh how I missed my grandmother. "10,000 won and that's it." she stated snickering. I let out a face, showing that I was fully satisfied with her answer. 


  I handed the watermelon to her as she put it in a plastic bag. I put my hands on my lap wearing an awkward smile while slowly looking at Baekhyun. "Ahah. I'm good at this, right?" I sarcastically said with a nervous laugh. Great, now he thinks that I'm nervous and awkward. Nice.


  Baekhyun looked at me for a second before going back back to reality. He smiled, looking away. "Yeah..." he answered plainly as he looked at me, again. At that moment, I can't help but to look away. What is happening to me? Why am I like this all of a sudden? I asked myself over and over again.


  I felt Baekhyun's presence slowly disappearing, I look around to find him behind me folding his hands while waiting. I look at his posture, it wasn't perfect, but I've got to admit, he is kinda hot when he's like that. I noticed that his face, isn't perfect. His pimple at the right side of his head is showing, but it's not noticeable. Maybe this is the reason why all of the girls are falling for him. I hadn't realized what I was doing until a voice startled me.


  "Miss, here's your watermelon." the woman said handing me the black plastic bag, that I believe is a very common plastic bag here in Busan. Once I took it, I bowed politely and smiled at the woman. The woman nodded and looked behind me.


  "Don't let go of him, okay?" she said looking at me. Confused, I bob my head on the right side, as I slowly look behind me. I saw Baekhyun walking towards me with a blank expression. I look at him, wide eyed as I curiously thought of what he'll say to me. 


  To my surprise, he suddenly took the plastic bag, while I let him have it. He looked at me and smiled as he played with the plastic bag. Being the stupid me, I just look at him with a confused face and smacked his head. "Ya!" Baekhyun whined, while rubbing his head with his other hand. 


  "Aigoo, 진짜! (Seriously) you two must be the cutest couple!" the old woman said. The moment I heard that, I look at the woman with a disapproving look. My eye brows slightly raised and my nose scrunching as my lips parted. It was a funny disapproving look 'cause Baekhyun laughed. Which made me hit him even more.


  "I agree!" "Yes they are so cute!" "Yeah they are!" "I agree too!" some of the vendors shouted, which made me feel a bit uneasy. Well who the heck will just agree to some mistaken couples that they are the cutest couple here? I look at Baekhyun, still slapping his bare shoulder while he's still laughing.


  "Thanks, 아줌마! (Ahjumma) It means a lot, but we have to get going. By everyone!" Baekhyun said as he waved first at them while grinning, I couldn't help but look at him with a somehow annoyed look. Then he suddenly pulled me and started to run towards the car. Who the hell is this guy?

  "Why are you two late?" Ms. Lee asked once she noticed me and Baekhyun, opening the door. I smiled as I placed the watermelon on the table that was filled with a lot of delicious and good looking food. Hmm, maybe I'll marry food when I'm older. I quickly put a pillow from the piled up pillows at the corner and quickly sat beside Jun Young.


  "Baekhyun oppa! Come and sit here!" Min Hyun a member of Jae Hee's fandom offered Baekhyun. I couldn't care less since I was busy picking some food to eat. "Min Chi, here's a bowl of rice." Mr. Jung handed them to me as I gladly took it, bowing my head with a slight smile showing. I glanced at Baekhyun, he was looking at me giving me a pissed look.


  I look at the two people beside him. I bet it's Jae Hee's fandom, and sure enough, I am indeed correct. My conscience is really the best, isn't she? I smirked as I grab my chopsticks and look away. I can sense that he's already pissed 'cause Jun Young's looking at me worriedly and a little bit scared.


  I laughed at his sudden cuteness. "Ya, don't be scared of him. He's just acting a little paranoid." I said as I pinched his cheeks while laughing. I quickly turned my attention to the food in front of me. My favorite of all Korean foods, Kim Chi! Just because we have the same name, that doesn't stop me to take a lot of food. 


  "Ya, Baekhyun-ah! Are you going to cut that Watermelon?" Ms. Lee suddenly asked. Making me to stop eating. I was about to eat a spoon full of Kim Chi, but I guess Baekhyun ruined it, unfortunately. I look at Baekhyun, with my mouth open, ready to eat my Kim Chi.


  He looked at Ms. Lee and then he unexpectedly looked at me. "Yes, Ms. Lee. I'll eat Kim Chi later." he stated, making sure that he's emphasizing the word 'Kim Chi'. Is it me or do you also feel that unexplained atmosphere here? I put my food down as I closed my mouth and whispered to Jun Young.


  "Ya, Jun Young-ah, do you feel some creepy atmosphere lingering around the room?" He looked at with a confused look and began to shake his head. I look at Baekhyun again to find him glaring at me. I don't know if he's really angry or he's just pissed. Wait, aren't they the same thing?


  Then he walk towards the kitchen carrying the watermelon. What's up with this guy?

Wow! Chapter 14! I can't believe I've done this far than I've ever expected! Anyways, I want to thank you all for praying for South Korea, even though the death toll reaches a hundred plus, at least we did our part and that is praying for all of them.
