BLUE IS SAD by Emily Leung
Genre: explained later
Okay guys, here's the deal. I actually know the author of this book. She is a fellow wattpad member who published her book on Amazon. She asked me a while back to give her a review and I told her I would review it here too, for all the good it'll do. I've been working with her these few last months on her work and making it better (one of the reasons I couldn't upload as frequently). As always, I'm going to be honest, no sugar added. So, English isn't her first language and though her word choice is flawless, her grammar is slightly off. But really, I might just be picky. She uses "like" too often in her main man's dialog and it does occasionally take you out of what he's actually saying. Ignore it. There are even some inconsistencies between the very beginning and the rest but that's fine. Everything else about it is great. For the second half of the book, I just couldn't stop crying. There is some seriously raw emotion and the reader feels it keenly. I swear, the tears I shed for her characters didn't have a chance of drying on my cheeks, quickly replaced by more throughout the book. I was literally crying for pretty much the entire thing. The story has an overtone of romance (nothing graphic) though it has several subplots that deal with different issues society has. It's quite interesting. It isn't professionally gleaming because she didn't spend very much time on it but the raw quality was enough. I liked it. I'm not telling you to go read it immediately but if you want to help a girl out and read something that'll make you feel intense sympathy for the characters, I recommend it.
And yeah, I couldn't put it down. I read it in a few hours.
In my gradebook, it gets maybe a B or C+. I'm torn.
Summary:
Esther meets Kaigan, singer and millionaire at a wedding reception where he performs and where she works. They meet in the kitchen and Kaigan (whose real name is Kyle) holds this conviction that they were made to be together. Or that their destinies were intertwined. And the drama is simply overflowing, I tell you. They both have deep psychological issues that they have to deal with. I'm not telling you anything else. Don't wanna ruin it. But let me tell you, the title is very appropriate. I loved the ending.
And there you have it. It's your choice to go and buy it, it isn't very much money compared to other things.
I'm not forcing you or pressuring you. I also want it to be clear that I am not advertising.
I'm just trying to help the girl out. But, I don't really know what she expects from this because I'm pretty much in the same boat she is.
