MARKED by P.C Cast
Okay, so this was the first vampy romance book I ever read and I don't really regret it. You know what they say, you never forget your first and I didn't. The first three or four books were okay. In fact, I liked them a lot but I would not recommend them. Ever. I actually go up to people who looking at those books in the bookstore and I direct them to something else. Know why? They have one fatal fault. THEY ARE REPETITIVE!
After those three or four books, they are the same problem, the same bad guy, people die and come back and die again. It's ridiculous. You might say, 'Oh, it is okay, I can deal with the repetitiveness if they are okay books'. Wrong. I thought I could deal with it just for the sake of finishing the series but more and more books came out and I just gave up on them. Honestly, they're bad writing as well. It's sloppy and though it was my first, I could honestly say that I mainly liked it because it got me hooked on the genre, not the series. It was a good idea, the book, but the author, P.C Cast, just stretched it out too far. I think there are already about twelve books in the series already and I'm sure it's still the same thing over and over again. It's tiring and as much as it pains me to leave a series unfinished, I'm doing it with this one. Oh, and if you choose to ignore me, I hope you like spin offs. She has a ton but they all suck, for lack of better word. One more thing, I HATE SPIN OFFS! You have no idea how much I hate them and it's all the more reason for me to give up on this author. I strongly suggest you don't even start this series or if you do, do not continue it to the end. You'll regret that waste of your time. In my grade book, she gets a D. Not anything lower because this book was my first.
Summery:
Let me give you a little background first. Vampires are nothing like you think in this book. They are spiritual and they worship a goddess. Nyx. They have ceremonies to her and everything. In the ceremonies, there are five vampires that represent the five elements. Earth, wind, water, fire, and spirit. Now, Zoey is a teen living in Oklahoma (Btw, no offense to anyone from there but the book does have a heavy accent through it. It's hard to understand sometimes). She goes to high school and hangs out with her friend Kayla and her boyfriend Heath. I just want to say that dude's name is stupid. Moving on, she gets marked. Being marked means you have this outline of a crescent moon on your forehead and if you don't get your butt to the House of Night to live there, you cough until you die. Basically. Anyway, she goes on the trippy spiritual thing while going to visit her grandma because her mom super sucks ass and she's scared and needs support. She trips, is knocked out and wakes up in the House of Night. She meets Neferat (not sure if I spelled that right...), who becomes her mentor because her little outline of the moon is now filled in and that's weird because no other fledgling, that's a vamp in progress, has ever had a mark like that. There is always the chance that the body of the fledgling might reject the change to become a vampire and they coughs till they die so the mentors help with that, I guess. P.C Cast never really explains what mentors are supposed to do... Of course, there are her petty teen problems. Dealing with the popular girls that are, of course, sluts and all around horrible people, starting to crush on the popular boy cause he's hot even though she's still together with her boyfriend with the stupid name. Things like that. A side note, I love Heath. His name is stupid as hell but he's so sweet. I want one like him <3 Anyway, a lot of stupid stuff happens, I won't ruin it for you or bore you to death, and she finds out that she can control all five elements while simultaneously taking over of the Dark Daughters, which is like the cheerleading squad. The end.
See why I gave it a D?

General FictionThis is just what I think on some books. There are going to be books that go all over the place, I'll have books of every genre so if you don't like vampire but like humor, you'll be in luck. Keep in mind that it's just my opinion but it is a good o...
