Chapter 6: Lunchtime Confessions

Lunchtime rolled around, and I had butterflies in my stomach. Shush butterflies! Why must you come out now?! I swallowed hard and walked straight to the willow tree. Breathe (Y/N), you can do this. I opened the willow curtain and stared nervously at my friends. I swallowed hard again and quickly looked to Ren with pleading eyes. He took the hint and stood beside me holding my hand. JR and Minhyun looked confused and concerned. Baekho just plain confused.

"(Y/N)-ah, what's wrong?" Baekho was the first to speak.

It's now or never, "I'mgoingabroadforschool!" I squeezed my eyes shut tight.

"Is that why you have been avoiding us?" Minhyun sighed in relief.

I opened my eyes slowly, "Umm, yes?" Looking quizzically at Minhyun, "What other reason would there be?"

"Heh, (Y/N)-ah, we thought you were avoiding us because of what happened with you know?" JR explained.

"Oh," I laughed a little at the thought, "No, I'm not mad at you guys for that...I mean I was, but I blamed myself in the end. Speaking of Aaron, where is he?"

"Down in the courtyard with his new girlfriend," Baekho mindlessly said, after my shocking news.

I nodded, "Thanks....well what do you all think about me going abroad?"

"Hmm, not thrilling for us, but we love you (Y/N)-ah, and we want you to be happy," Minhyun piped up.

"Exactly, no matter where you are, we will always be friends, best friends. And besides, we will still keep in touch! Or at least we'll make you," JR motioned between him and Minhyun.

"(Y/N)-ah, I've only known you for a short amount of time, but you are like my little sister and I'll support you in every way. Even from a distance, just don't forget me okay?" Baekho laughed.

I smiled brightly and squeezed Ren's hand mouthing a 'Thank you' to him. He only smiled and soon sat back down. Okay, that wasn't so bad! And now for the hard part!

I braced myself, "Wish me luck!"

Without hearing the confused questions of my friends I marched off to the courtyard. As I reached the courtyard, I slowed down as my heart was beating incredibly fast. Aish! Stupid heart, stop being hopeful. Mark seemed to be aware of my presence and came to greet me.

"Hey, there you are. I was looking for you, you didn't show up to our spot."

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I just had some things to do. I should've texted you. I'm glad you're here right now, though." I looked towards Aaron, who's new girlfriend was being quite handsy with him.

"Why?" He suddenly looked at where I was staring.

"I'm about to do something stupid, and I'll probably get hurt," looking back at Mark, "Will you come rescue me in about 15 minutes? I'll be in front of the library."

Mark only nodded in understanding. I soon set off towards Aaron. At first, he didn't seem to notice me approaching until I was actually there. He looked shocked and a little annoyed at my presence. Ha, shouldn't I be annoyed with him?

"Hi, sorry to interrupt, but Aaron could I borrow you for just a sec? It'll be fast I swear."

He cleared his throat and stood up, still looking peeved, "Are you finally going to tell me why you've been avoiding me?"

"Yes," I bluntly stated and turned to head towards the library, "Are you coming?"

He quirked an eyebrow before following. We stopped in front of the library soon, the halls empty of people except us. I sighed heavily. Okay, here goes nothing!

"Aaron the reason I've been avoiding you is because, well it's because-"

"Because?" He looked annoyed again.

Before I knew what I was doing I could feel my lips against his. Time stopped and for a second, I swear he was kissing back. I pulled away. What the fuck did I just do?!

"Mian, I love you," I whispered.

"(Y-Y/N)-ah? I have a-"

"I know, and I know you don't feel the same way, nor will you ever."

I just smiled painfully and closed my eyes that were welling with tears. Soon enough Mark came to my rescue just before the tears started to fall. We left behind a dejected Aaron, who looked like he had just been through some kind of sad trauma. I-I gave my first kiss to him....but why does it seem he's more hurt than I am? Sigh, I didn't even tell him about me studying abroad. I guess I'll announce it at graduation....
