"It all started when I was a freshman. I was having trouble finding my locker. When I did found it, I unlocked my locker and placed my books in it. But, my hands were shaking and creating all my books to fall on the ground. Everyone didn't bothered to help. So, I knelt down and picked up my books." I paused. I inhaled and exhaled slowly and continued. "I saw a hand picking up some of my books and it was gestured to me. I looked and it was a boy. Dirty blonde, green eyes, with a smile on his face. He pulled me up. He said that he was a junior and he would love to show me around.
His name was Bradley. We hang out every single day. Every break, we would sit together in the cafeteria and just talk and talk and talk like the whole world didn't exist." Tears filled my eyes. It fell down onto my lap. I sniffled and didn't continue the story. Tomi put his arm around me. "Seline, if you don't want to continue, it's fine, but whenever you're ready, I am here, okay?" He took his hand and wiped away my tears. He kissed my forehead and sat quietly beside me. Silence was in the air.
"You know what?" Tomi stared at me. "This place is depressing," he stood up and held his hand to me. "I know a place where we can go." I took his hand and followed him.
"Where are we going, Tomi?" I asked. "You'll know it when you see it!"
I thought Tomi would be in front of me leading the way but instead he walked beside me. "Seline, I am sorry for whatever happened to Bradley," he said it in a low voice. "You didn't know what happened.. how would you know exactly why?" "Because the way you talked about it makes you sad, I had a feeling that something horrible had happened to him." I sighed. "It was horrible indeed.."
We then reached to a park. It was empty. Peace and quiet. That's good. Tomi spotted a bench and asked if I would join him to sit on it. "Be right back." I admired the scenery. I always loved being exposed to nature. The sound of the birds, the breeze, it was all so calming. Usually, when I want to be alone, I would go to the beach with a book in my hand and just sit on the sit and read. The sounding waves, the gentle breeze were so complimenting that sometimes I get lost into the book and it was hard to come back to reality but when I do, I will feel satisfied.
Tomi then appeared in front of me. "Here, a cotton candy for you!" He handed me a blue cotton candy. I took a bite. "Wow, it taste good." My eyes were wide open. Tomi and I were in total silence. Not one word was spoken. Just then, I could felt Tomi leg was vibrating. Tomi got his phone out from his pocket.
"Hello? Yea, yea. Wait, what? Okay, I'll be there right now." Tomi hanged up. "Seline, I have to go. It's urgent. I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you, okay?" He walked away. I was staring at him when he left. Should I let Tomi in? He seemed like he really wanted to know about Bradley. Maybe it was time to let people in. Maybe Tomi will be worth it. Oh well.
I went back home and flung my schoolbag onto the couch and took a nap.
