A new routine was established in the Stewart-Pattinson household. Their so waited new family member got them living an even more hectic life than before. It had only been four days since Kristen gave birth to Laelynn, and all of their friends and family members impatiently waited to finally meet her in the flesh.
They had announced her birth a few hours after she was born, but stopped everyone from coming. Kristen was exhausted, but also they wanted to acclimate themself to this new life, without any kind of pressure from anyone. But now was officially the time to welcome them all in their messy home, with themself in a zombie state. No books could have really prepare them for such a lack of sleep.
Here they were rushing all around their house to clean as best as they could, especially because Laelynn was finally napping. Kristen was tossing every visible dishes in the dishwasher, her lovely kitchen was a war zone these days, far from the fresh food she used to cook daily. And Rob was grabbing everything out of place in the living room when the doorbell rang.
"Showtime honey." Kristen said when they met up at the front door. She took a hold of his right hand, letting him open the door and showing the happy smiles on their guests faces.
"Hello everyone." Kristen waved to them and moved aside to let them enter their house. So far it was only family. Their friends would come in a few days, too much too soon was not their desire.
Jules was the first one, and immediately she went to her own daughter to give her a loving hug. Kristen happily hugged her back, and hummed the unique scent of her mother. Not surprisingly to Jules, Kristen cried in her arms. Hearing that sound Rob told everyone else to go in the living room, to offer them some privacy. Jules thanked him and rocked Kristen back and forth.
"Are you okay, baby girl?" She whispered softly in Kristen's ear, and she nodded back. They stayed in this position for a little while, before Kristen moved back and dried her tears. Her eyes were turning red, adding to the dark bags under her eyes. Jules smoothed back her long, wavy brown hair, from her face and smiled at her.
"I'm so happy to see you mum." Sincerely she was expressing herself to her mother, because now for the first time she understood what the love of a mother was, and she was thankful for hers. "Damn, I'm such a mess."
"Kristen!" Jules chuckled.
"It's been four days mum, I can't not curse instantly. She understands nothing anyway." Rolling her eyes at her mum she chuckled too.
"So, where is this cute baby girl?" Taking Kristen by the arm, she led them to join everyone back in the living room.
Kristen walked to Rob, then sat down on his lap realising he had offered drinks and food already. Sighing she kissed his cheek and installed herself more comfortably against his chest. Warm arms enrolled her body, lovingly holding her.
"I love your food son, but I came here to see my granddaughter." Rob's mum said, making everyone heartily laugh and agreeing with her statement.
"Thanks mum." Rob said faking being hurt. "She's asleep upstairs. Who wants to go take her?" Suddenly Jules and Clare stood up ready to run up the stairs to the nursery. Once again laughter exploded in the room. Of course the already two mothers wouldn't hold back their urge to hold a baby in their arms. "I'm not picking anyone, and I don't think Kristen's gonna move." He looked back down at his girlfriend who sheepishly shook her head 'no'. "Dear grandmothers, suit herself and go pick her up."
The two ladies strolled together to the second floor, talking to each other happily about their new grandchild. That scene was so beautiful to Kristen and Rob's eyes. A big happy family reunited to share joy and happiness, what else could they have asked for?
