"What do you wanna do?" Rob asked and she turned to face him shrugging.

"I told you I didn't wanna raise another child. Not like with Laelynn."

"Be clear, Kristen."

"I'm not gonna-" her voice trailed off. "I've always dreamed of having children with you, you know." He nodded. "She deserves a sibling. But what about us?"

"I told you already I wanted to try again." Rob reminded her, thinking of their time in New York. "But you shot me down."

"I know." Kristen sighed feeling bad and still conflicted. "You gotta understand where I'm coming from though. This baby is a surprise, like Laelynn and from there we failed everything. I don't wanna make the same mistakes."

Rob looked at her, intensively. Of course he understood her but it felt like being stuck on a loop.

"So not giving our children a chance to have their parents together is how you wanna do it? I still love you, Kristen."

"So do I." Kristen murmured staring right into his pool of blue eyes.

Lack of love had never been their problem. Yet, it still warmed Rob's heart to hear her sort of say it back. Not all was lost.

"I fucked up a lot and I'm trying." Of course he was aware of his past behaviour and that was part of him and helped him to become a better man. "Everyday I'm doing my best not to fail you and our daughter, and even you pushing me away isn't stopping me. I wanna be with you for the whole pregnancy. I wanna be there when you give birth. But even more I want us to try again. We're not the same as we were, Kristen. You're scared and it's okay. That doesn't mean it has to stop you from living."

From the moment they broke up Rob had seen her built up walls to protect her heart, from him. She was a mother first and he was so proud of her for staying so strong and raising their daughter. Laelynn grew up with love and he couldn't wait to see her be more and more strong headed like Kristen. And also to be there for her and her future sibling. Rob loved his family through all the ups and downs.

"Don't break my heart. Not again. Because I swear to you, I'd leave for good."

"I know." He didn't promise her because he knew that his words wouldn't have as much impact as his actions. She wasn't the young girl nodding at his sweet words anymore. Same as he wasn't a jerk ignoring his responsabilities towards his family.

Of course they're giving it another try to be together. Though I have to admit, I did write a scene where it ended badly, but I guess you guys deserve a happy ending or sort of 😊
