September 2013

They were on the right track. Finally they were all together as a family on the set of Kristen's new movie in Berlin. Rob had joined her right after he was done with filming his own movie. It had been hard for both of them to be separated, more than usual. Kristen was all alone for a few days in a different country, and she couldn't lean on Rob to help her and take care of Laelynn. She was exhausted, even more than after she gave birth. So when Rob arrived a weight lifted off her shoulders, and she could focus more on her work.

But what pissed her off the most, were the sneaky paparazzis who tried to take pictures of her and Laelynn. Unfortunately for them, she always had a blanket over her daughter's car seat. The only difference with the ones back home was that they stayed silent and didn't harass her with thousand questions about why Robert wasn't here with her.

A week after Rob's arrival in Berlin, they were ready to travel to the next set location in Switzerland.

"Hi baby girl!" Kristen said to Laelynn when she entered their hotel room, right after dinnertime. "How was your day?" She took her in her arms, away from the toys she was playing with. Laelynn babbled to her mother, while she walked to Rob who was standing next to the window. She stayed silent because the look in his eyes was lost. A minute later she felt his hand smoothing her hair long brown hair then resting on her neck. Slowly she moved to settle in his arms.

"I have to show you something." He murmured letting his hand fall back. Kristen turned around and watched him grab a magazine on the nightstand. Her heart missed a beat and instinctively she took a step back holding Laelynn closer to her. "Love, breathe." Rob told her looking into her eyes. Tightly holding the magazine he pecked her lips. "I took a walk with Laelynn two days ago and they got pictures." Shaking her head Kristen was trying to calm herself. "They only have me. No pictures of Laelynn. They didn't get her." He sighed and hugged both of his girls, and he distinctly heard Kristen breathe out a sigh of relief.

"They will, one day. No matter how careful we are it's inevitable." Eyes closed against Rob's shirt, she was stating her worst nightmare.

"What if we get the news about her out ourselves?" Rob knew how adamant she was about their daughter, but they lived a life in the spotlight, nothing was a secret forever. Kristen moved back from him, still holding Laelynn on her hip. Eyebrows furrowed she was assessing her boyfriend, trying to understand what he was asking her to do.

"I'm not ready." She left him there and went into the bathroom to start Laelynn's nightly routine, and get time by herself.

Her reaction didn't even surprised him. That was a subject they talked about once when she was pregnant. But the reality wasn't as easy as they thought. If they had been less known actors that probably wouldn't have been a problem. But the world wanted to know the inside out of their life. Though he was glad it happened here and not back in LA, and even more because they were leaving in the morning. They were going in such a remote place that peace could only do them some good.

Of course he didn't want to expose their daughter to that harsh world. But what else could they do ? At least there they would have some control. Hiding was good, but it also had its limits. What Kristen didn't realise was how this could burn them, like it almost destroyed their relationship more than a year ago. Same problem once again.

Laying down on the bed, Rob listened to Laelynn and Kristen having fun in the bathroom. That sound warmed his heart, it was soothing all his worries.
