Robert was cradling Laelynn in his arms. Smoothing her soft hair and inhaling her baby scent. Slowly the little girl was falling asleep in her father's hold. Kristen was still silently watching them, keeping her distance.

"Can I put her down for her nap here?" Rob's low voice questioned her. Kristen nodded.

When he was out of sight she moved from her spot to walk in the kitchen. Tossing her keys on the counter, she opened a cupboard taking out a glass that she filled with water. Anxiety was getting a grip on her. He was her boyfriend, never should she feel anxious to be in his presence. Drinking the water she tried to ease her nerves.

"Hey." Kristen gasped, not having heard him coming in. "Are you alright?" She turned around leaning against the sink.

"No."

"I'm sorry. For that night." His eyes were down for a second then he looked up. "I fucked up."

"I don't want your apology. I came here for you to see your daughter." Kristen put down her drink in the sink and strolled to take her keys back.

"Don't you wanna talk?" Robert was obviously taken aback by her attitude. He really thought that they would talk. For three days he stayed patient and left her alone. She needed space and everything she wanted he would give her.

"No. I don't wanna talk about us. Or you."

"What about you then?" Kristen stopped herself from walking out and huffed.

"Me? You really wanna know how I've been doing?"

"Yes Kristen. Of course I want to know." Rob stepped in front of her touching her cheek. "Tell me, love." Her clear green eyes were watering under his loving stare. His hands cradling her cheek with his thumb stroking it. For a minute she was embraced in his love. But quickly Kristen stepped back.

"Stop." That was too easy to play that card. Sweet words and touches weren't a solution. "I can't do this."

"You know we have to talk."

"We are not doing this your way." She pointed at him. "Not right now. No." Shaking her head she turned her back to him and breathed out several times. "I have an appointment tomorrow. I- I'm not okay Rob."

"I know. We fought and-"

"You don't get it." Kristen faced him once again. "Do you think of anyone except yourself? Do you even see how fucking wrecked I am? Do you Rob?" Each question her tone got colder and colder. "Nevermind. I'll come back tonight to pick up Laelynn. I'm staying at my mother's from now on." Instantly Kristen vanished out of the kitchen to the front door and climbed in her car. One more second with him and she would have ended breaking down once again.

A little bit after six pm, Kristen was driving back into her driveway ready to pick up Laelynn. She stepped into the house trying to find them, and she heard a loud sound coming from the kitchen. Following it, she walked into a memorable scene. Laelynn was in her high chair, her cute mischievous smile, throwing her sippy cup at her dad. Kristen couldn't help and but chuckle making both of them turn their head in her direction.

"Are you in a playful mood tonight?" She spoke to Laelynn kissing her cheek, only to had her little hand pushing her away. Not intimidated one bit, Kristen went for another kiss. "Everything went well?" Finally she acknowledged Rob's presence.

"All good. She had a good nap, didn't you sweetie?" Rob tapped the top of her nose. Laelynn didn't waste anytime and grabbed one of his finger.

"Da." Laelynn yelled several times in a row. Kristen glanced at Rob, and so did her to her. That wasn't the first time she was calling Rob this way, but right now it was hurting both of them. They knew that one night, when Kristen left, it was impacting on their daughter. "Da!" Laelynn was impatient having no attention from any of her parents for a few seconds.
