Serena woke up, feeling rather comfortable.
Too comfortable for her taste.
She snatched the covers, and threw them off the bed. She never recalled changing into her sleepwear, or throwing a sheet over her.
Her eyes gazed on the three empty beds in the room. Ash, Gary, and Dawn were gone. They couldn't have left her, since they left their backpacks and Pokéballs behind.
She stood up, a bit startled when the door opens.
Her eyes met with Ash's. Sorrow, and regret lingered in his auburn-brown orbs. He broke eye-contact, and walked into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him.
Dawn held a tray of food, and handed it to Serena.
"You were sleeping so calmly!" Dawn says, stifling a giggle. "We didn't want to wake you up, sooo we got you breakfast!"
Serena nods. "Thanks Dawn, but that doesn't explain why I'm in my pajamas. I didn't even change."
"Oh, haha." Gary says. "Ash did."
"When?"
"Like, five minutes after you dozed off...What happened last night, anyways?" Gary asks out of curiosity.
Serena shrugs, letting out a deep sigh." I would be lying if I said I knew."
Dawn nods. "Whatever's going on, Serena. Just snap out of it."
Serena takes a deep breath.
"Just tell them, Serena. They're your best friends, after all.""It's just that...I don't feel...like I have....feelings for Ash anymore. I mean, I love him, I do! But, at the same time...I don't." She whispers, a single tear falling from her face. "I don't know what to feel."
Dawn opens her mouth in shock. "I-I'm." She stutters. "Speechless."
Gary smiles. "It's okay, Serena. You'll figure it out. I promise. I'm just letting you know that Ash loves you. Did he have to change you last night? No, he didn't. Did he have to constantly worry about you? No, he didn't. Did he have to fall in love with you-"
"No, he didn't." Serena interrupts. "I love Ash. I love him, I really do. I'd give up everything in Kalos for him. But I-"
"Alright guys, you ready to get going? I have my first gym battle today, and I'm soooo hyped!" Ash exclaims.
Gary stands up, pumping a fist. "We'll be cheering for you, all the way!"
Dawn nods, and pressed her lips against Serena's ear. "Show support for Ash, he'll love it."
Serena smiles, and walks over to Ash.
"You alright, now?" Ash asks, intermingling his fingers with hers.
She nods, placing her head on Ash's shoulder. "Better than ever." She whispers.

"I'm so excited! Are you ready, Pikachu?" Ash asks his yellow fur ball of a Pokémon.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu nonchalantly says, rubbing his cheek against Ash's.
"What do you think that gym specializes in?" Dawn asks.
"Electric types." Gary says. "I heard that gym's really strong, and strict."
Ash smirks. "I'm all up for it! Pikachu and I have been training hard. There's no doubt that we'll win!" He exclaims.
Serena smiles towards her boyfriend. She always loved how enthusiastic he was. How he always strived hard to be the very best. She looks away, her smile fading. Then again, there was the downside.
