Chapter 8 ~ Battle Continued!

"Surskit!" Viola exclaims. "NO!"

The smoke from Pikachu's previous move starts to dissipate. Both Ash, and Viola agitated of who'll win the first round.

After five seconds, the smoke finally evaporates.

"Surskit is unable to battle." The referee calls out."Which means the first round goes to Ash Ketchum!"

Viola sighs, flashing a bright smile towards Ash before returning Surskit to its Pokéball. "Rest well, Surskit." she whispers, pressing her lips against the Pokéball. "You did wonderful."

Ash leaps in triumph. "Alright buddy, that training paid off!"

Viola smirks, taking out another Pokéball. "This is only getting started, Ash. Vivillon, you're up next!"

Ash adjusts his cap, then brings out his Pokéball, as Pikachu glares at his Trainer in confusion.

"Come back, Pikachu!" He exclaims. "Alright Fletchinder, I choose you!"

"Fletch! Fletch!" Fletchinder screeches in excitement.

"Wow." Serena breathes out. "Ash's Pokémon and Ash have so much in common.

"No kidding." Dawn says. "Their appetites are as huge."

"Alright Vivillon, use Gust, hurry!"

Ash grunts as he watches Fletchinder struggle as it attempts to fly properly through its gust.

"Alright Fletchinder, focus now! I know you can do it!" Ash says reassuringly. "Be one with Vivillon's Gust! Don't let anything distract you, and use Steel Wing!"

Fletchinder nods with willpower, and obeyed his Trainer's commands. Vivillon's Gust fades away, as Fletchinder takes the chance to attack.

"Ahh!" Viola exclaims. "Vivillon, at you doing just fine?"

"V-Vivillon!" It says.

"Alright, let's show them...use Sleep Powder!"

Civilian gracefully spreads green-ish particles throughout the battlefield, leaving Ash terrified, and devastated.

"Oh no." He mutters under his breath. "Think Ash, think Ash."

"I've got it!" He exclaims. "Fletchinder! Don't fall asleep! Use Flame Charge on yourself!"

Fletchinder nods lazily, but still obeyed Ash's command.

Fletchinder attacked itself, leaving everyone in shock, and admiration.

"What?" Clemont exclaims. "What a clever idea!"

Gary grins. "ALRIGHT ASH AND FLETCHINDER! You're doing great!"

Vivillon glares at the Pokémon in annoyance, awaiting for her Trainer's commands.

"I must say, Ash." Viola begins. "You have been training well, but not well enough...Vivillon, use Psybeam!

Ash reacted quickly, spotting a piece of glass that laid on the battlefield. "Pikachu!" He exclaims, grabbing the Pokémon's attention.

"Use that piece of glass on Vivillon's Psybeam!"

Pikachu obediently nods, using the glass to reflect Vivillon's moves.

Vivillon sluggishly attempted to dodge its own moves- but failed.

"Vivillon is unable to battle!" The referee exclaims. "Which means the winner is Ash Ketchum, the Trainer!"

"YES!" Bonnie exclaims, clapping her hands together.

Serena leaps out of her seat, sprinting towards Ash, tackling him into a hug.

"W-whoa there!" He exclaims, returning the hug.

"Congratulations, Ash!" Serena says.

"All that training worked off, Ashy-Boy." Gary says, letting out a chuckle.

Dawn smiles in agreement. "You'll surely beat the other gym leaders!" She encourages.

Ash shyly laughs. "Well, I mean...I don't know about that."

"She's right, Ash Ketchum." Viola interrupts. "You surely have potential. Especially when it comes to battling. I can see that you and your Pokémon have a very strong bond. One that obviously cannot be broken. And with that, I present you the Bug Badge. You did well."

Viola hands the Bug Badge to Ash, as he leaps into the air in triumph. "YEAH!" He exclaims. "The Bug Badge!"

Viola grins, and silently whispers into Serena's ear. "He's a keeper." She teases, causing Serena to blush slightly. "Don't lose him."

Those three words rang in Serena's ears. She sighed, and politely nodded.

"Don't lose him."
"Don't lose him."
"Don't lose him."

Her eyes gazed upon Ash, as she allowed her mind to wander. She appreciated Ash's affection and dedication, but. There was always a but.

Her thoughts her merely interrupted by the familiar voice that boomed through the entire gym.

"So." Ash says, as he spun around to face Serena. He greeted her with his signature toothy-grin. "Where're we off to next?"

Serena shrugged, clueless of where their voyage continues.

"Well." Clemont mutters. "Let's go to Cyllage City. It's close, and a gym is located there."

"Cyllage City." Ash whispers. "Well, what're we waiting for? Let's go!"

And the journey continues!
