The morning was still young in Santalune City. Ash, and his friends had decided to wake up early to get a head start to Cyllage City. In which he will attempt to receive his second gym badge! Ash had recently received his first gym badge, in which he couldn't be more proud of.

Ash, Serena, Clemont, Bonnie, Dawn, and Gary were currently staying at the Santalune City Hotel.

"WAKEY WAKEY! CHOCOLATE CAKEY!" Bonnie exclaimed.

Clemont sighed loudly in annoyance. "Bonnie!" He half-whispered. "It's three in the morning! When we went early, we didn't mean this early!"

Bonnie ignored her brother, and began tugging on his sleeves. "But..there really is chocolate cake! In front of our door!"

"Now, who would bring us chocolate cake in the middle of the night?" Ash groggily says. "It must've been a dream, Bonnie."

Bonnie stomped her feet, causing Serena, Dawn, and Gary to wake up.

"What's all the commotion?" Serena asks, her voice slightly cracking.

"Chocolate cake?" Dawn whispers, still half-asleep. "I can eat some cake."

Bonnie ran over to where Ash slept, and began to pull his sleeve. "Look!" She exclaims.

Ash allowed Bonnie to pull himself out of bed, and towards the front door. And to his surprise, stood a chocolate cake.

"Well." He says, his mouth watering. "What do ya know? There is cake! Who wants a slice?"

Gary immediately shot his arm up, his eyes glistening with satisfaction. "ME! Me! MEEEE!"

Serena giggles, sitting herself up. "I can use some cake...too."

She took a good, long look at the cake. It was a perfect, round, chocolate cake, topped with crimson-red frosting, and three bright, red strawberries. Her heart pounded as she slowly began to recognize each detail.

*Flashback*

"Hey Serena?" Red says, his eyes scanning the recipe.

Serena looked up, her eyes gazing upon her boyfriend. "Yes, Red?"

"What cake would you like me to bake?" He asks, his eyes still glued on the recipe book.

Serena shrugged. "Chocolate's fine. Oh, don't forget strawberries...and
vanilla frosting!"

"You're so demanding!" Red says teasingly, taking his eyes off the book. "It'll be the greatest cake you ever tasted!" He exclaims confidently. "Boy, it'll be so delicious, that I'll be sending a box any time of the day!"

Serena giggles. "Even during the middle of the night?"

Red nods seductively. "Even in the middle of the night." He says, repeating her words.

Serena crosses her arms, a grin plastered on her face. "But, how will I know it's from you?"

"Well." Red begins. "The vanilla frosting will be dyed a crimson-red, and I will place exactly three strawberries!"

Serena raises a brow, obviously not satisfied. "And?"

Calem smirks, wrapping his arms around Serena's waist. "And. I will put the initials 'R+S' on one of the strawberries."

*End of Flashback.*

Serena breathed heavily, cold sweat streaming down her temples. She pulled the cake away from Ash, frantically plucking the strawberries out from its red frosting. She spun each of them around, until...there she found the initials, 'R+S'.

Serena gasped in fear, throwing the cake down as she began using her bare feet to flatten the cursed cake.

Ash hugged Serena instantly in concern, holding her close to his chest. He caresses her cheeks, wiping away her tears.

"Whoa." Gary says breathlessly.

Ash carries his honey-blonde girlfriend bridal-style, and placed her back onto her bed. "Get some sleep, 'kay?" He whispers, pecking her lips.

Serena nods. "Whatever you do, do not eat that cake." She says, before falling into a deep slumber.

Dawn sighs. "What just happened?"

Clemont shrugged. "Well, she certainly does not like chocolate."

Ash shook his head, running his hand through his raven-black hair. "No." he groans. "There's more to that. I know it. I mean, no one can turn down a cake."

Gary shrugs. "Unless they hate deserts." Gary stood up from his bed, grabbing a couple towels from the bathroom. He began to pick at the smooshed cake, his eyes glared at the chocolate cake, as he spotted something that certainly does not belong in a baked good.

"Hey." He whispers. "Hey, g-guys?" He says, pointing at a powder-like substance.

Clemont stood, standing from his bed, as he began to observe the cake. "This....is a, s-some sort of...poison-powder." He nervously stutters.

"Uh-what now?" Dawn asks, now confused.

"He says it's a poison-powder." Gary answers his girlfriend. "Why would this person want to poison any one?" He whispers inaudibly.

"More importantly." Ash begins. "Why us? I should ask Serena."

Dawn grasps Ash's wrist. "Don't." She demands. "Let her rest. We'll ask her when she wakes up." Dawn pleads.

Ash sighs, nodding obediently, taking one last look towards his honey-blonde girlfriend.
