Ch. 16

(About a week later)

I groaned, throwing my fist onto the table. I'm sick of sleeping on the fucking couch.

My action caused Korra to jump up and bark once, twice. She looked from the door to me and back, then tilted her head as she tried to listen for another sound.

"Korra," I called, "it was just me."

She seemed content with my answer and lay back down on the floor in a ball.

I growled loudly and it turned into a shout.

"I'm sick of this shit," I grumbled, then tried to sit up, holding my stomach where the bullet wound was healing.

I stood up and stumbled down the short hallway, and opened my bedroom door. There Hannah was asleep, but she sat up quickly when I entered.

"Felix? What are you doing?" she asked sleepily, then checked her clock.

"It's three in the morning. Why are you up?" she continued.

I scratched my side and shed my pants, now in just my underwear. Her eyes widened slightly.

"Felix, we can't. Your wound-" she began, but I cut her off.

"I don't want to. I'm tired of sleeping on the fucking couch, okay? I can't sleep all the way through the night, I keep waking up and it's uncomfortable. I wanna sleep on my bed," I said.

She shook her head. "I know, baby, but you're supposed to be resting on the couch, since I could accidentally open it back up while we're sleeping. Or you could."

"I don't care. I wanna be comfortable, and I want to sleep beside you," I replied, my hands clenching into fists. I was being a child, I know.

"I'm sorry Felix, but the doctor said-"

"I don't fucking care what the fucking doctor said! I want to sleep in my goddamn bed!" I stomped my foot, crossing my arms over my chest.

She shook her head, falling silent. I growled.

"Fine," I said, then put back on my pants, and shuffled through my drawer for my Black Sabbath shirt, and put it on over my muscle shirt.

"What are you doing?" Hannah asked as I tied my shoes.

"Going out," I grunted. I didn't wait for another question. I leaned over, kissed her forehead, and walked out, wincing at the pain in my stomach. I grabbed the car keys, said bye to Korra, and left.
