Shyanne's pov

I sighed as I opened the door to my dorm. I see Maggie talking to Sam.

Their attention towards me, and I clear my throat as I closed the door behind me.

"Hey Shy." Sam said as he got off of her bed. "Hey." I gave him a smile as I walked over to my bed.
"Sorry you had to get to class alone, I just woke up really late." Maggie said as I sat down.
"I'm gonna go. See you later." Sam said as he walked out the room and closed the door behind him.

"How'd you do it?" She asked. "Do what exactly." I sighed. "Get to class. There wasn't any pain killers in here and you still went to class." She chuckled.

"I woke up and Derek was in my room, let alone in my bed." I went straight to the point. She looked confused. "What?" She she asked.
"He said we was leaving-"  "Why would you let him in my bed?" I asked and she shook her head.
"What? No. I didn't let him in your bed. He must've stayed. You shouldn't be so upset though. If it wasn't for him, you would've have gotten back safely. He made sure that you were so I'm guessing he stayed the night in the process." She explained before laying down.

I shrugged at her response. "Well were were you? I think I would've been a little less freaked out of you were there." I said. She turned her head to look at me. "I... Got drunk." She answer simply. I chuckle. "Yeah I know that but where were you?" I laughed. "I ended up... sleeping at some dudes place." She started playing with her fingers.

"Oh? And do I know this 'dude' you speak of?" I raised an eyebrow at her. She just shook her head. "Bummer." I said.

"Yeah. It will most definitely not happen again though." She sounded like she was unsure.

"Did you regret it?" I asked.
"I don't know." She sighed. "But what about your lovely boyfriend Hayes? What happened to him?" I asked.

"We got into a little argument but it wasn't that serious. He ended up leaving the party and yada yada yada." She shrugged. "Oh damn." I sympathized. She waved me off. "It's whatever, he was just being dramatic. We were arguing over me stepping on his sneaker." She rolled her eyes as she said that.

I scoffed. "Boys." I shook my head. My phone started ringing and I pulled it out of my pocket.
I looked at the screen and saw that it was my aunt that was calling. I smiled and answered the phone.

"Hey auntie." I said while smiling.
"Hello missy! How's it over there?" She asked. I just shrugged. I breathed. "The work isn't hard, it's just some of the people that is the problem." I looked at Maggie and she rolled her eyes playfully.

"I figured. You're a very smart young lady. I knew the work wouldn't be hard. Are you sure you want to stay the whole time over there? On weekends you could stay over. You're uncle and I really miss you." I bit my lip and looked down. I shook my head. "No I need to stay over here. I'll visit during breaks." I said. I heard another voice in the background.

"Are you at work?" I asked. "No, for the first time. I'm actually home- your uncle says hi." She said.  "Oh?" I cleared my throat.
"You wanna speak to him?"
"No thank you, um I have to go now. Thanks for calling, love you." I said quickly before hanging up.

Maggie gave me a confused look.
"What happened?" She asked. I shook my head. "Nothing, it's just that..." I closed my eyes and scoffed.

I hear Maggie getting out of her bed. I felt the bed dip next to me. I looked at her and her face held concern. "Shyanne. We're friends. You can't trust and tell me what's happening with you. You can't keep everything bottled up. It's not good." She said calmly.

"I'll tell you but, you can't tell anyone. Please." I said slowly. Maggie nodded. "Not even Madison." She said.

"I don't know where to start." I paused.

"First things first my parents. My father is in jail for... being a rapist." I blinked away the tears. "He had sex with a girl that was younger than me and I was around 14." I shrugged in disappointment. "And... all my life I grew up thinking he was a good man but really, he was nothing but a monster. It disgusts me. Knowing that your father attracted to... Anyways." I breathed.

"My mom had passed away. Heart attack. To be honest. I always felt that it was my father's fault. It was around the same time he got locked up. I wouldn't even know how to handle the news about husband's actions like that." I scoffed. Maggie rubbed my shoulder.

"Since I had no guardian, my aunt was desperate to take me in. She was there with me going through everything. Hell, that was her brother that got locked up. It wasn't any easy for her than it was for me. She did love my mom like a sister, and they were really great friends. That's why she knew it was best to take me in." I sniffed.

"The cons with living with her? There's tons." I shook my head.
"Like?" Maggie asked.

"She was a workaholic. But it wasn't to get away from me, it was because she was the only one working so that there could be a roof over her husband's and my head. She was hardly home. Now at first, her husband seemed so nice. He was a recovering alcoholic. Because of my aunt, he decided that he loved her and would do anything to keep her so he quit. But since she hasn't been been home a lot, he would drink." I said. I scoffed and pinched my temples.

"He drank so much. So much. And.. one day he decided that touching me was okay." My voice cracks.
"Touching me sexually and then abusing me. Abusing me when I said no." I cried. Maggie took me him her arms and held me.

"I was only fifteen." I said I I pulled away.

"And going to school only made worst." I said. Maggie nodded. "And this is where Derek comes in huh?" She said.
"Not just him but he was absolutely the worst. I had it hard at home. And all the things he said and did... I can't forgive him.
I was called all the possible things to bring me down at home, threats  too. Not once but twice. All day everyday."

"Shyanne, I am so sorry." Maggie teared up. "It's okay." I said. "No it's not." She said before taking my wrist. "You hurt yourself." She said with sadness. I slowly pulled my hand back. "I don't. Not anymore I mean. I don't have a reason to. But I'm not gonna lie, sometimes I think about it." I say honestly.

"Don't you ever do that again. Don't you even think about it. I'm here okay? I'm here."
