Shyanne's pov

I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out.
"Could you give us a moment?" I asked them and they nodded.
I looked at Derek who had a blank look on his face. He didn't say anything and stepped out, along with Maggie and Madison.

Madison closed the door behind her.

"I don't mean to embarrass you-"
"No, it's not like that. I just wanted to talk to you, not in front of everyone." I said softy as I placed the box on my bed.
"So?" He bit his lip.

Derek's pov

I sighed and rested my head against the wall. I clenched my jaw in anger. If Shyanne says yes, I'm going to break something.

"Woah there." Maggie teased. "What's wrong with you?" She asked.

"Nothing." I said. I crossed my arms over my chest. "Nothing? Looks to me like your upset about something." She egged on.
"I'm not upset about anything. This is just my face." I said. Maggie narrowed her eyes at me.
"Awe, Derek." Madison cooed.
"You like Shyanne, right?" She poked my cheek.

"Doesn't matter if he does, she doesn't feel the same way." Maggie shrugged.

"I like her but I don't like her. I don't like her in the way you're thinking I like her." I said then but my lip. Madison just giggled and Maggie rolled her eyes.
"Do you think she'll say yes?" Maggie asked.

"I think so. I mean, who doesn't want a guy that'll bring you food? Someone who's honest, loving. He makes her laugh a lot too. She's been happier ever since they've been dating." Madison says while walking around in circles. Maggie nodded in agreement.

I could do all of those things.
I can make her laugh, I can bring her food. But Cameron isn't honest. He's a fucking liar. If it wasn't for me Shyanne would probably be taken advantage of at the party. He doesn't deserve her.

But do I?

The door opened and our eyes shifted to Shyanne.

"You guys can come in now." She smiled.

The girls walked in first and I followed. "Shyanne we can hang out some other time if your busy." I said and scratched the back of my neck.

"I'm not. Cameron was just leaving." She patted his shoulder. He gave a tight smile and nodded.
"Yeah. See you in class." He said before walking out of the room.

"What happened?" Madison put her hands on her shoulders.
"Nothing really. He asked me to be his girlfriend." Shyanne shrugged. "And?" Maggie butted in. "And I simply said no." She gently pulled Madison's hands from her shoulders.

"Why?" Madison shook Shyanne viciously making Shyanne laugh.
"Ease up, Maddie." Maggie coughed out a laugh. "Why? He was so perfect for you!" Madison pouted.

"Well if you think he's so perfect, you be his girlfriend." Shyanne said to her before walking up to me. "No honey, I'm grateful for my Jack." She chuckled.

I looked over to Maggie who had her arms crossed over her chest.
"Where you going?" She asked with a hint of attitude. "Just around." I smirked at her.

She raised an eyebrow at me.
I mean I get it. She thinks I'll hurt her friend but I won't. Not anymore.

"We won't be out long." Shyanne said as she walked to the door.
"I'm watching you." Maggie mouthed and narrowed her eyes. I put my hands up in defense before walking out with Shyanne.
