Shyanne's pov

The next evening.

"So does that mean you're staying for the night." I asked my aunt.

"Yes I am!" She smiled at me.
"My boss said I've been working like a dog and I can have the night off." She said.

I took a breath of relief and hugged her.

"Oh! You miss me that much?" She chuckled before patting my back.

"You have no idea." I said.

"Where is he?" She asked.
I gave her a sympathetic smile.

"He got drunk again, this time wasted. He woke up but fell back asleep again." I said to her.

Her face now held sadness.

"I thought he was getting better." She said in a hush tone. "He didn't do anything reckless last night did he?" She asked.

Yes.

"No."

She sighed in relief. "Thank goodness. Last time he almost broke your bed." She said.
I almost cried when thinking of that memory.

"Yeah." I nodded.
"You should send him to rehab." I suggested.

She put her purse in the kitchen table and I followed her.

"I mean, his situation is pretty bad." I said.

"Yeah but not that bad. I mean, what's the worst he's done?" She chuckled.

I tried to swallow the lump in my throat.

"Auntie. It could get worst. Let's handle this now before it does." I put my hand on her shoulder.

"Shyanne it's not going to get to that point." She shook her head before walking back into the living room.

"He's violent!" I raised my voice.

She stopped walking and turned around to face me.

"What has he done then? Tell me." She crossed his arms over her chest.

"He..." I bit my lip.

"He... he almost cut me with the beer bottle he dropped. Yeah. I could've gotten hurt. But it was an accident." I said.

"Really? Honey, why didn't you tell me?" She scoffed.

"It didn't seem like a big deal. But it could get worst. I don't want it to come down to someone getting hurt." I sighed and looked down.

"I don't know though. He might get upset." She stepped closer to me.

"You love him, right?"

"Of course. With everything in my heart.

"Then help him. Help get better." I said.

She nodded as she thought about it.

"You're right. We'll have a discussion tonight. It makes me so happy to know that you care for him." She said before she brought me into a hug.
~~~~~~~~
I was sitting at the dinning room table along with my aunt.
My uncle was coming down the stairs slowly and heavily.
"Shyanne?" He called.
"In here." My aunt spoke for me.
When he came downstairs he had a look of confusion written on his face. My aunt motioned him to sit next to her.
He hesitantly walked up to us before having a seat.
"Shyanne and I've been talking." She started.
He shifted his focus from my her to me. "Yeah? What'd she say?" He asked as he kept looking at me.
"She told me that you have a drinking problem. Now I already know this, but she said you've been violent. Bruce can't have you being violent. You can hurt someone. The best decision there is is to take you to rehab." She explained to him.
He scoffed and sat back in his chair.
"So you think I'm so fucked up that I need to go to rehab?" He said sounding angry.
"I love you, Bruce. We have to get this habit out of you before it's too late. Before you do something bad. Do you want to hurt Shy?" She asked him.
"I would never." He said.
I looked down at my fingers.
I wanted to speak up. But I didn't.
"I know you wouldn't. So please, let's take you to rehab so you can get better." She put a hand on his shoulder.
He just stayed quiet for a while.
"You need to do it." I spoke up.
He looked at me before sighing.
"I'll do it for you guys. I don't want to hurt anyone I love you guys too much." He said.
Bullshit.
My aunt smiled brightly and took him in a strong embrace.
The front door was now being banged on.
"Who is that? It's almost 9." My aunt said.
"I don't know. I'll look." I said. I got up from the table.
I made my way up to the door.
When I reached it I opened it.
"Derek?" I gasped. My mouth was wide open as I stared at him.
He was soaked from the rain.
He didn't say anything. All he did was pull me into him.
I was so shocked.
"Shyanne, who's at the door?" My aunt walked up us. "What's going on?" She asked.
I slightly pulled myself away from him, only to look up at his face.
"Derek what are you doing here?" I asked him.
"You can come back with me. We can go anywhere Shy. Just not here. Anywhere but here." He said as he held my head.
"Shyanne who's this?" My aunt spoke up.
"Uhh.. this is Derek." I pulled him in from the rain. I closed the door behind him.
"Her boyfriend." He said.
My aunt had a shocked look on her face.
"Boyfriend?" She asked in surprise.
"I can explain." I said quickly.
