Just Your Average Day

Hiccup's P.O.V
It is an average day in the hospital, so basically I'm sitting down on my bed being bored. I can now walk on my prosthetic leg even if it hurts a bit. I was sitting on my bed playing cards with Anna when Dr. Hamada ran through the hall.
"Patient in urgent condition! Open for surgery on multiple organs. Internal bleeding and fractured skull. Multiple broken bones. Bring to operation room stat." He yells at the end of the hall. Dang I wonder how that person got so hurt. Then I saw a mass of bloody and dirty yet recognizable blonde hair being wheeled away led by Dr. Hamada.
"Rapunzel!" I shout and try to run to her but fall in the slippery hall because of this darn leg.
"Oh Da-"
"Language." She weakly teases as she is wheeled away.
"Dr. Hamada!" I call out as the doctor runs to help me up.
"Why did no one tell me that Rapunzel was found! And where is my dad?" I ask my doctor.
"The police should answer those questions but we couldn't tell you because she was just found by Eugene and my little brother. I have been trying to save her life so no there wasn't time to tell you. I need to go now, she needs open surgery." Tadashi explains before rushing back to my sister and trough the operating doors.
*time skip*
The police finally came after five minutes but it felt like eternity. All of us were gathered together. Merida and Anna were sitting with me on my bed while Elsa, Kristoff, Jack, and Eugene were sitting in chairs.
"Okay Mr. Corona where is my dad?" I suddenly blurt to the captain. Eugene's face pales.
"Is it okay if I break it to him first Mr. Corona?" Eugene asks the kind looking man who nods sadly.
"Hic, a madman had kidnapped your sister and father. He had a gun and had cornered Rap and was about to shoot but your dad," his voice breaks off a bit, I can see he is trying to be strong for me.
"Go on Eugene." I motion for him to continue.
"He dove in front of the bullet." He whispers.
"Wait what?" I tear up. I don't normally cry but I allow it this time.
"Stoick?" I see my mother's frame in the doorway as she cups her hands over her mouth. Anna moves away to make room for my mother to sit next to me.
"Hello Mrs. Haddock. May I continue?" Mr. Corona asks receiving a nod as Merida and my mom sandwich me in between them in comforting way.
"The man, Frollo Paris, had your sister backed up to a cliff so when your father took the shot he fell backwards off the cliff. He was no longer with us by the time he hit the ground. Now back to your sister. She was pushed off the cliff by Paris when she reached for your father. She luckily landed in water but her head hit rock, fracturing her skull. She also hit rock on her stomach causing internal bleeding and her leg and wrist broken. From what the doctors have told us she should be going into surgery now." The police finish, "any questions?"
"Uh yes! How far was the fall both my sister and father took!" I shout attracting some attention from outside. I forgot we left the door open.
"Seventh-five feet." The man answers.
"What is the prison sentence for this man." My mother asks him with a growl in her voice.
"Life. He could possibly be released to an asylum if the court decides his actions were due to mental illness." The policeman says. No more questions are asked so he gets up and leaves.
"We are here for you Hiccup." Merida says laying her hand on my arm. I shrug her away.
"I can't Merida."
"You can't what?" She asks with tears in her eyes as if anticipating what I am about to say.
"Be with you. It's all too much right now." I sigh not even looking her in the eye. I hear her sniffle then the door slams indicating that she is gone. One by one my friends stand up and file out of the room. Once they are all gone I bury my head in my hands and let out a small cry.
"Don't blame yourself Hiccup. There is nothing any of us could do and you know that." My mom pats my back before getting up and walking out herself. What has this world come to? One second I am happy in school, with a full and functional family, good grades, loving girlfriend, and great friends. Now I have one leg, my sister might not make it, my dad is dead, I just broke Merida's heart, and my friends don't know how to deal with me. With a cry of rage I punch the air and fall back onto my bed. I look to my bedside table and see a photo of me and toothless. That gives me an idea....
