Chapter 45 - Battle for Saffron part 3

When they get too the top of the stairs, they see a desk. The chair behind the desk turns around, revealing Giovanni, petting a Persian.

Then Ash and Serena's eyes widen as the two shadows appear from behind the chair, smirking with white mouths and red eyes.

"Welcome! Ash, Serena, warrior, and Red!" Giovanni shouts standing up from his chair. "Now. Let's get this show underway."

Ash and Serena were staring at Giovanni. Only with looks that could kill. Giovanni's puppets, whatever the shadows were, seemed to be ready to pounce at any time. Giovanni was looking at his own daughter, and Kaelyn.

Ash immediately and instinctively moves in front of the two girls ready to protect the two. He glared and Pikachu was getting ready to battle if it had too.

"Now now, you two shadows, leave us for just one moment." Giovanni says with a slight smirk. The shadows obey and walk to another room.

"Now it's just us 5 isn't it? Oh but if we are including little Kaelyn. It's 6." Giovani says laughing. "Let's make that 5." He says and he forms an aura sphere and throws it at the warrior, sending him down the stairs.

"So that what you were experimenting with.." Red says under his breath.

"Indeed mister Ketchum. That is exactly what I was messing with! That's what all those experiments were about. How to grant myself these powers

Ash and Serena were shocked. They couldn't believe he somehow had the aura abilities. They know he hadn't been trained. His face tells them all that. And most importantly, he had given himself powers. They didn't know it was possible.

"Bring me the little one." Giovanni says pointing at Kaelyn. It was only a split second. Ash and Serena turn to see Kaelyn being held in the air by one of the shadows.

Kaelyn was squirming in its grasp. She was trying to break free, and was reaching towards Serena. "Momma help!" Kaelyn cries desperately trying to get loose.

She was terrified. Ash and Serena could see it in her eyes and her actions. Ash and Serena try to reach Kaelyn, but in less then a second, the Shadow had brought Kaelyn to Giovanni, and Ash and Serena fell on the floor.

The shadow laughs evilly and disappears again. Ash and Serena get up angrily. Pikachu was sparking his cheeks, preparing for the imminent battle.

"Cmon out Ivysaur." Serena says throwing out the Pokeball that housed Ivysaur. Ivysaur came out to see only somehow not all complete hatred in Serena's eyes.

Even though Giovanni was holding Kaelyn as she squirmed to break free, Serena had the slightest bit of sympathy in her eyes. Somehow there was sympathy towards her father.

Perhaps, the reason for this was that he was her father. Her birth father, she had never come to know. Her mother made him sound insane and crazy, perhaps this is true. But, perhaps there's also the slight probability of there being some good inside him.

"Momma! Daddy! Help me!" Kaelyn cried still trying to wiggle from Giovanni's grasp. She was waving her arms wildly hitting him over and over but he didn't budge.

They heard the battle closing into the building. The army had gotten through the forest on all sides and were swarming in with their Pokémon. Every minute seemed to bring the army  just one inch farther towards the building.

Ash looked at Giovanni. Scanning for weaknesses. Nothing. There was nothing there. Red had tried looking for the same things, but of course there was no sign.

The shadows reappear again, and each grab one of Kaelyn's arms. "Be careful with her!" Serena shouts worriedly and frantically. Her face showed fear and caution. She currently had only a single thing on her mind. And that single thing was protecting Kaelyn. She would risk her life protecting her. Then again, that could just be her motherly feelings.

Giovanni walks out from behind his desk and sends aura at Red, flinging him down the stairs as well. The aura came so quickly, that Red had no time to react. "Dad!" Ash shouts worried.

"Now it's just us three isn't it?" Giovanni says walking up to Ash and Serena. He smirks evilly and Pikachu's cheeks are sparking like mad. Ivysaur was looking ready to attack.

"I could control you with a command Serena, my daughter. But I'll play fair. Just this once. Persian Fury Swipes." Giovanni says and Persian pounces at Serena.

"Momma look out!" Kaelyn shouts still struggling. Serena turns to the pokemon and her eyes become wide in fear, unable to react.

"Pikachu use thunderbolt!" Ash shouts frantically also moving himself in front of her. The thunderbolt comes crackling towards Persian, and connects just before it hits.

"That's not fair mister!" Kaelyn shouts angrily. "You said you'd play fair!" "I did say that. Good ears little one." Giovanni says with a smirk.

"Persian Fury swipes again!" Giovanni shouts and Persian pounces from the window.

"Ivysaur use vine whip!" Serena shouts recovered from the shock. "Pikachu quick attack!" Ash yells determined to win.

Pikachu's attack hits first, sending Persian into the window. A few cracks form. Ivysaurs vine whip heads towards the Persian, which quickly moves out of the way, and the vine whip shatters the glass, sending the hundreds of shards to the ground. Giovanni smirks. He uses aura to send Ash and Serena out the window.

Pikachu and Ivysaur panic, running to the window. Finding that Somehow, Ash had grabbed hold on the ledge keeping himself from falling. He was holding Serena with his other hand, his hand was around hers holding her up as well as he could.

"MOMMA!! DADDY!!" Kaelyn shouts frantically trying to get loose more frequently and violently. She was kicking and thrashing, trying to get loose so she could help Ash and Serena.

Team Rocket grunts swarm towards the window, and grab Ivysaur and Pikachu. The rest loom over Ash and Serena. They look up to the the grunts and they have no where to go.

"It's either come up with the grunts and join me" Giovanni says evilly. "Or, you fall too your deaths, and Kaelyn will be stuck with me for a parent." He finishes.

Ash and Serena were just hanging there. As the Kantonian Army approaches the building, they hear shouts to quickly get up to the top floor to help them.

Ash smirks. He lifts Serena with the help of his ability and she gets onto the the ledge and jumps in pushing the grunts away.

The Kanto Army gets up there finally and surround Giovanni. He smirks and commands the shadows to release Kaelyn who rushes to Serena. Ash gets up the ledge and hugs both Serena and Kaelyn.

"Stand down Giovanni!" One of the soldiers shout. Giovanni simply shakes his head and walks through a hidden door. Then he disappears.

All the soldiers send a search party around the city but can't find him. No matter what, Ash and Serena came back to the base more popular then before...

The battle of Saffron has come to an end. Where has Giovanni gone? What's his next plan? Find out, as the Journey Continues...
