Chapter 20

Scarlett's P.O.V

My view of the ledge disappeared. Not because I blacked out. Yet, anyway, instead the wind tossed my body over. Letting me get a full view of my fatal end. This is it, I thought. This is how Scarlett Legend says goodbye. A huge something of dark ocean water was slowly getting bigger and bigger as I got closer. I even saw glimpses of other ledge pieces.

It's funny actually. The wind was so carelessly throwing me around, but so carefully twirling my body. I was being tossed like a silk ribbon in the breeze. I'm surprised I haven't blacked out yet. Eventually I realize there's nothing I can do to save myself in this case. So I let it happen without fear, and soon, it became very peaceful. The hard breeze became my friend and I felt like I was flying. My hair was gently sweeping in random directions. My arms stretched outwards and I felt like a fairy, if that makes sense. Honestly sure that it didn't.

The moment when there was so much wind in my face I couldn't breathe was gone the second I let go of my fear. My eyes met the beautiful sunset and red clouds above me. Is it possible to be this calm in such a situation? I neared the water and my body was tossed over once more. My eyes closed and I sighed in my head. At least Night was the last person I saw.

A faint murmur ripped through the blasting wind which I was no longer able to hear. There it was again. My eyes slightly open all the way only to see Night....NIGHT?!?! What the hell is he doing? My peaceful dream broke into a million pieces as soon as I was able to recognize him.

Alarm rang through me. He was easily gliding through the wind and soon enough caught up to me. It didn't take much to realize he grabbed my arm. The feeling when he touched me would be noticeable through heat and ice. Giving a slight pull to my arm I was pulled right into Night's body. He threw my arm around his neck and on reflex my other arm followed. I felt his one arm wrap around my waist and he flipped us over. My body over his and he held on tight.

"Why..." I let out. Sure he didn't hear me at all, because I was unsure if I had even said it myself.

"You're Red, I'm the wolf." Night replied smiling. A miracle we heard each other at all.

My eyes widened in shock and we hit the water. It wasn't just a little plop because we were plunged deep down into the dark water. My body was separated from Night's just as the breath was knocked out of me. The pain of the hit was agonizing. How did Night take it on? I know he's strong but that's just ridiculous. He hit the water first, and that greatly impacted how hard I fell into the water. Not as hard as him.

I still felt his hand in mind. The cold water only slightly burned my eyes before I got used to it. I felt my body being dragged out of the freezing water and we surfaced again. I gasped for air. Barely managing to float on what I believe was ice. Night swam me out of the water and we laid there in the sand trying to catch our breaths. His eyes never leaving mine. I think I almost died when he smiled at me so honestly. Not a scratch on him. Though, in his eyes I saw anger, but for what? Is this really happening?

I hear shouts. Or is the water in my ear simply doing that? Looking to my right I see a group of people running towards us. No. Not just any group of people.

My friends, but they aren't too happy or happy at all. Razor stood in front of me while Naiomi wrapped me into a blanket. Quincy was knelt on his one knee rapidly speaking to Night. I was still half scared out of my mind I didn't know what was happening. Did they come here to save us? That seemed partly true. Considering they came with a blanket.
