My true self is invisible,
Hidden behind
The fake smile,
the fake laugh.
Hidden scars
no one knows.
No one cares.
Everyone sees my mask.
Always plastered with a smile
To hide the river of tears threatening
To overflow, too hard to build a strong dam.
So I stand by and see others so happy,
Watching the world pass me by.
I should just stop trying,
Just stop caring.
I hide in the shadows,
trying to avoid the storm
that rages around me.
Numbness has overcome me,
Been invisible for too long.
