Today was the news.
The news that you were gone.
That your life was over.
Memories flashed in my head,
Of where you had lain,
All skins and bones.
A vacant look in your eyes.
It had been far too long
that you had suffered.
It ate at you until it could no more.
You lost weight, and you couldn't walk..
There will be no more memories of you.
Some were good and some are terrifying.
Each and every one engraved in my mind,
Like a tattoo.
Never again will I see your face,
Or listen to your stories of yesterday.
Never will I ever hear your laugh,
Or see a tear roll from your eyes.
Today I said good-bye,
But I'd rather die
Because you were so full of life
Before it took you.
It will never be the same without you.
