This is a poem based off of the poem "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe. He is repeatedly rising from the grave to search for Lenore, although she is unknowingly watching from above. No copywrite infringement is intended.
The raven sits perched on the headstone,
As the clocktower struck midnight.
Breaking for flight against
The moonlit sky, invisible now.
The ground on which it once stood breaks;
With a hand protruding
Reaching from the Other Side.
The ritual automatic, the man
Rises, dons his cloak and hat.
Night after night he searches,
For his long lost love Lenore.
Lenore, Lenore, Lenore.
Night after night he searches
High and low, left and right.
To no avail, he will search
For eternity.
From Heaven's Gates, Lenore
Watches from above,
With silent tears and a heavy heart,
She calls his name.
Night after night he is deaf to her calls.
Night after night she sees his frustration.
At each dawn, he returns
To his lonely grave.
A Hell of its' own,
Until the moon rises each night,
To call him to his search once more.
Lenore, Lenore Lenore.
For eternity he will search,
And she will mourn
For their long lost loves.
Parted by their sorrow,
And burdened lives
They once knew.
Apart for eternity,
They will search forevermore.
Lenore, Lenore, Lenore.
